Good location, cold at night
The location of Hostal Balkonis is very convenient; there's metro stop right next to the hotel and it's also within walking distance of most of the main attractions and you can also find great restaurants within 1 km. There's a mini market around the corner and also a restaurant that serves food until the late hours. The staff was very helpful and friendly from the beginning, and they gave us great tips of how to get to the airport and what to see in the city. The room itself is very basic. We had a double room with private bathroom, which was located on the first floor and had a small balcony facing the street. The biggest minus for us was that it was super cold in the room. We visited in April, and the bed had only a sheet and a blanket, so we were freezing every night. I guess it's the opposite during the summer and one will be sweating in there. The shower could've also had a shower curtain to avoid the wet bathroom floor. All in all, a decent spot to stay but on a general level the quality doesn't meet the price. I know it's Barcelona and all, everything's on the expensive side but like in many European hotels and especially hostels, the prices have gone crazy compared to quality.

Aivan mahtavaa palvelua. Henkilökunta oli todella mukava ja huone oikein kaunis sekä siisti. Sijainti hiukan syrjässä, mutta hyvät yhteydet julkisilla.

It was not bad, but also not amazing. Our room wasn't that clean and one night we didn't have hot water. It was kinda hard to close the balkony door, but manageable. The service people were really nice and helpful and they tidy up the rooms everyday. The area was nice! Close to two metro lines and a Lidl. For a three day stay it was alright!

Walls are paper thin so would advise you bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Staff however was very nice and helpful. Location is pretty good. Both walkable and near public transport. The only issue for us were past comments about bed bugs which made us nervous to sleep there. We did end up walking away bite free so I think this issue has been resolved

The place is clean. 7 rooms on one floor. Basically just a place sleep. Area is okay, can get a bit weird around depending on which direction you head.

We got bedbugs on this Hostal! The staff was really unhelpful and didn’t seem to care at all. We had to sleep one more night in the room before checking out the next day because we couldn’t reach anyone working even though we messaged and called them several times (reception close at 5). Beside that, room number 2 was nothing like the pictures, no daylight, the bed was horrible to sleep in and the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything and everyone all the time. Would not recommend this accommodation to anyone!!

Hotellet ligger super godt med gåafstand til mange ting. Vi fik et værelse med terrasse, hvilket var virkelig dejligt. Personalet var super søde og meget hjælpsomme. Kunne sagtens finde på at booke der igen

Great value for the cost. Modest, clean accommodations for travelers like me that just need a good bed to rest and a decent bathroom. Very well located just 2/3 blocks off the Aerobús stop and closer to the metro station. We saw public busses also pass by frequently but didn’t use them. Toward the south of the hotel is an immigrant area of town, very culturally diverse. Towards the north (Gran Via) more traditional Spanish vibes. We noticed a lot of young college aged people around. I think there is a University nearby. It is not perfect. Bathroom shower door had a strange design that allow for water to easily splash of bathroom floor and A/C as I come to learn is customary here, will keep room fresh but not cold as some of us from US expect. It was not uncomfortable but it was different from expectations. I would recommend it.

Paulina in reception was wonderful and liked the balcony which opened onto the street. Clean, quiet, and safe for a single person.

Excelente localização. Equipe atenciosa. Mesmo pegando o quarto de frente para a rua, não tivemos problema com barulho excessivo. Quarto tamanho normal. Banheiro amplo porém sem box ou cortina. À princípio pareceu estranho mas não foi problema. Nos forneceram taças e saca rolhas quando pedimos. Porém, não deixam nenhum copo à disposição no quarto, nem de plástico, útil para beber água ou tomar um remédio. Tb não houve reposição de sabonete líquido para banho, sendo que ficamos 4 noites.

The room was fine, & bathroom good, & balcony excellent. There was not adequate heat in cold night; could have used a glass and a non-bathroom trash can. Staff was very pleasant. San Antoni neighborhood is very good.

Prima plek om te verblijven. Er waren enkele zaken kapot, maar hadden we niet heel veel last van. Het personeel was erg vriendelijk en vanuit deze locatie kun je makkelijk het centrum in.

Wow, beautiful hostel, walkable location, and super quiet! Everything in this place is extremely clean and well-taken care of. Not to mention that Paula, the receptionist, is an amazing person and her kindness made our trip 10x better! She was so amazing and gave us the best recommendations of what to do during our trip. I will definetely come back to this place next time I am in Barcelona. The most welcoming hotel!

El sitio es bonito y las terrazas son geniales. Nuestra habitación tenía terraza privada y estaba muy bien también, aunque no da el sol demasiado tiempo. Están en obras en el edificio de al lado, por lo que la terraza estaba un poco sucia, pero se entiende. La habitación en cambio, impecable. A pesar de las obras, no hubo nada de ruido y descansamos bien en una habitación muy cómoda. El servicio genial, la recepcionista muy simpática y amable. Una experiencia a repetir, sin duda.

スタッフの方は優しくてフレンドリーでした！ 暖房がなくて寒かったのと、洗面台が写真より古くて狭くて残念でした。 掲載写真を見ましたがどの部屋の写真の洗面台とも違って、騙された感じがありました。 水圧もお湯の暖かさも良かったので良しです。お部屋も清潔で毎日ベッドメイキングしていただきました。バルコニーがあったのですがドアが壊れていて外に出れませんでした。周りの治安はいいので総合的には快適でした。

It was an amazing stay. The staff are very helpful. I had planned to come during lockdown and was given a voucher for my stay. The hotel honors it, but had issues with hotels.com not letting me use it so I had to pay double for my stay. The staff is helping resolve the issue since hotel.com would not. Once again amazing staff and great location.
