The first night the room was too hot because we did not not think about turning the heater off. I found the bed to be uncomfortable and had trouble sleeping. The hospitality was wonderful and breakfast was great. We learned a lot of Civil war history. We were surprised to find that the other couple staying there was from our hometown also.

Best stay EVER
Weather was great meanwhile we thought we were going to be dealing with rain the whole weekend. When you check in they go over the history of the lightener farm and the use of the home back during the civil war. Booked the Lincoln room which turned out to be the best room. The room had its own door to enter from the outside with a porch with several rocking chairs that looks over the left side of the property. Breakfast hands down was the best I’ve ever had on all of my stays in Gettysburgs over the past 7 yrs. The room was beyond comfortable and the shower was great with amazing water pressure. I will definitely be rebooking for all of my future trips to Gettysburg.

Everything about the Lightner B&B was amazing! The owners were delightful and knowledgeable about the battle that took place just a few miles from their historic home. The rooms were decorated perfectly to themes of the civil war, and the setting of the home brought you back in time. The breakfast was delicious, and we didn't want to leave. We stayed in the Lincoln Room, which was amazing! We would HIGHLY recommend staying here, and if we are ever in Gettysburg again, we will definitely try to stay here again!

Owners were very nice and accommodated our request for an earlier check in. Breakfast was delicious. Easy and plentiful parking. Room was well appointed and very clean. It's a little further away from the downtown than I initially realized, but it only takes about 10 minutes drive. We will definitely return.

A beautiful homestead from the civil war era transformed by the very hospitable and friendly owners into a wonderful B&B. A special treat the chocolate chips cookies and the delicious breakfast every morning.

Steve and Teresa do a wonderful job. My 2nd stay at Lightner. Last year I stayed in Lincoln Library room. This year in Elias Monfort room. Both were great, cozy, well appointed. The Inn's locations is perfect...as I go back and forth between Visitor's Center, Battleground, restaurants and shopping. Breakfast was perfect and you get tons of visit recommendations and historical information. I will be back next year.

The Innkeepers were friendly, helpful with dining options. They treated us like a guest in their home. The breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed having a glass of wine on the patio in the evening.

Excellent stay
Great stay! Farmhouse is beautiful. Felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. The daily breakfast was delicious! Be sure to check out the basement area. It really brings back the original charm of the home. If I had anything bad to say, the shower in our room was quite slippery. It was ok for us, but might be more of a risk for someone who doesn’t have great balance. Not enough to reduce my rating, just something to note.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Our room was very good. Very clean. Could of use one bigger chair. Overall, very nice. Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of food and delicious. We were very close to town and near the battlefield visitor center. We enjoyed our stay in Gettysburg, especially with helpful hints from the owner Steve: what to view, good restaurants, etc

The owners were very polite . Enjoyed the conversations. Definately would recommend a stay while visiting Gettysburg. The staff mbr was also very knowledgable about the area.

A wonderful stay, far enough away from the downtown bustle, not too far to enjoy the surrounding sights. Steve and Teressa's Golden Retriever Holly made the stay that much more personal and relaxing.

The farm house is beautiful and everything about our stay was perfect! Check in was easy and I loved the history of the house they provided. The rooms are well-appointed and clean. The property was just a piece out of town-far enough away to avoid noise and crowds. But close enough that everything was very accessible. The breakfast was delicious and such a nice treat to get our day started. We can’t wait to go back!

This is THE place to stay for a quaint getaway!
Our stay at the Lightner Farmhouse B&B was an awesome experience! The feel of the house was cozy and comfortable. When walking to our room, we could see inside the other rooms that were awaiting guest arrival, and they were nicely furnished and inviting. We stayed in the Elmina Spenser Suite with our 12 yr old son, where he had his own area for sleeping. AC is available though we didn't need it for our April stay. Teresa and Steve were a joy to talk with-very personable, easy-going people with great laughs! Steve gave us great info and history of the house. Breakfasts were delicious! Plentiful and all homemade by the B&B chef, Jason (who has worked in/run some impressive places) and plated on china dishes every morning. They are accommodating to dietary allergies/restrictions. Coffee and orange juice at the sideboard buffet, along with soda, water and other various drinks available in a small fridge in the dining area, as well in our room. Homemade cookies always available on the dining room table. Guests have available to them the parlor, dining area and the B&B's 18 acres to wander through. It is located very close to Gettysburg National Park and many other various sight seeing places, dinner establishments and shops. We would definitely stay here again when we want to overnight a few days!

The home was used as a Union Hospital in the Civil War. The home had great character. The staff was very personable.
