We were in Málaga three nights in February 2019 and stayed at the Petit Palace Plaza Hotel. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation. Situated in the heart of the old town, literally a stone's throw away from the Plaza de la Constitutión, the hotel is ideally located. The Cathedral, the Roman Theatre and the Picasso Museum are all a short walk away.
The front-desk staff was very welcoming and it is possible to borrow iPads and bicycles free of charge. We were initially given a smaller room but they upgraded us to a larger room with a French balcony after the first night, free of charge. The room was nice with a fridge, a safe and a kettle for making tea and coffee. The breakfast buffet was generous with lots of choices in cold cuts, cheeses, smoothies, fresh fruit and pastries. Unlike many other Spanish seaside resorts the hotels in Málaga don't charge an extra city tax upon check-out. There were several cozy tapas restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel and a fast food restaurant just down the street if you get hungry late at night. The street where the hotel is located is a pedestrian area, the taxis can't reach the hotel directly so prepare to walk a couple of blocks to reach the entrance. This might be important if you have difficulties moving about.
On the whole, we can heartily recommend this nice middle-class hotel. They did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible and we were very happy with the service.
