Ihan ok hostelli
Hostellia ei ole uudistettu hetkeen ja kaikki on vähän nukkavierua. Yhden hengen huoneen sänky oli aika lyhyt ja natisi kovasti. Seinät ovat kuin paperia, ja kuulet käytännössä kaiken naapurihuoneesta, varaa siis korvatulpat mukaan. Huomaa, että hostellin respa on auki vain 8-12! Itse en nähnyt hostellin henkilökuntaa kertaakaan (myöhäinen check in ja aikainen check out) - silti kaikki toimi hyvin. Hostelli on kuitenkin rauhallinen ja omistaja on todella ystävällinen ja haluaa auttaa. Hostellilta on vajaa 2.5km kävely ydinkeskustaan. Ilmainen wifi, toimi ihan hyvin. Alue on turvallinen ja ravintoloita löytyy.

The room was not available for me even though I had booked and paid through wotif. Another guest at the establishment advised me that the owner is not taking on-line bookings and there was no room in any case. I have already emailed about this and I expect a full refund. Please advise when this will happen.

Confusion over whether I even had a booking when I was attempting to get my keys from staff who were not on site was only the beginning. I had an inkling of Fawlty Towers that proved to be premonitory gold. The pool had been filled in with dirt long before our arrival, so not being a tunnelling wombat, I was unable to partake. Sun-dried tomato and chicken gristle, a fallen screw and the butt ends of smoked joints lay on the long-uncleaned floor; tobacco cuttings on the mantel; and carpet tacks pointing up where the carpet had curled away from the wood on which to impale my foot. No soap even in the public toilet, much less the ensuite. The doona covers were not very absorbent, but they were the closet thing to towels we could find, short of using our next day's clothing. We were a little unsettled by what appeared to be a blood stain on the wall near where someone had apparently fallen heavily against the plasterboard. I imagined that the fall may have been precipitated by contact with the bare bayonets on the wall light fixture that had no shade to protect the unwary, and possibly stoned, traveller. On the positive side, if the previous occupant did meet his demise in the room at least the body had been removed, if not the evidence of his last meal. Oh, and no sign of tetanus from the carpet track obstacle course. Caveat emptor.

Good location, but very dirty overall
From pros - only location and price. Otherwise the accommodation was very very dirty - the public areas, the rooms, the toilet, as well as floors were very dirty. The trash bin got full overnight and was not changed in the morning at least not until we checked out around 10.30. The floors were in a good need of vaccum cleaner and the bathrooms and toilet need a COMPLETE clean.

No management on site. No soft drink or snack available. No wake up call or clock available. Only hotel shuttle available has to be reserved at airport from private company not related to property. In general, a shabby joint.

Great location, lovely old Queenslander. Backpacker-style shared kitchen. Lovely people employed for cleaning and other chores. Negatives: no air-conditioning in rooms, which makes it unbearably hot and difficult to sleep at night. Bathroom in urgent need of complete renovation. No cleaning was done in my room during my 2 weeks stay.

A Hidden Gem!!
Bowen Terrace is truly a hidden gem with convenient access to Brisbane CBD, Queen Street Mall, and South Bank Parkland via bus or walking along the riverfront. The managers, Ann and Brenda, were so lovely, helpful, and hospitable. This place had more of a bed and breakfast feel to it; there were always friendly and familiar faces without the noise or the party crowds typical of hostels, and it provided the perfect balance of privacy and socializing with other travelers. Both private and shared spaces were SPOTLESS, and cleaning was done on a daily basis. I enjoyed my stay here so much that I extended from one week to two and will definitely return if I need another night's stay in Brisbane.

A very quaint hotel with character. It is clean and has all you need to make your stay as smooth as possible. The staff are very friendly and helpful and are there to make your stay enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel 10 out of 10.

We had a great time staying here whilst visiting our daughter in the city.here. We usually stay in the city at a bland budget hotel because it has free car parking. Our daughter was a bit concerned and thought we might be squashed in with backpackers and less friendly short stay room frequenters. We had an amazing time. Not only was our room character filled and the staff friendly, there was plenty of free on street parking. We walked, scooterd and ubered our way around the city easily. The house had hostel rooms downstairs, but we didn't see or hear anybody other than a family on our floor. The private bathroom was small but spotless. It's an easy walk to the river, New Farm shops, the movies and New Farm Park. The only noise came from the street outside, which wasn't much as it is in a residential area. We might not have heard anything, but we kept the window open as it was a hot night. No aircon, but we were fine with the open window and overhead fan. A nice character century old home away from home. Definitely our new first choice. We also saved $40 a night on what we usually pay.

Home away from home.
Bowen Terrace accommodation is very homely and clean. My trip was to see my brother who lives by. Apparently according to the owner they have many Guests who have family living in the area but don’t have enough space for guests . I would recommend this pace for short and also wonderful for longer stays. Very central to Brisbane CBD but in a quiet little pocket. Great restaurants and cafes nearby as well as supermarket and Saturday food markets.

I stayed at Bowen Hill accommodation for 1 night. Because my checked in time was 11:00pm, the staff put my name in the front door and showed me how to get my room. The room was very clean and have everything that you needed. It is also easy to access to the Brisbane city centre. by bus No. 196, which is just 1 minute walk from hotel. I am highly recommend any people who want to short stay in here.

Lovely old Queenslander. Comfortable clean room. Easy check in process for after hours check in. A little bit of noise from the street until later in the evening made an early night challenging.

Average, noise hazards in the kitchen and mixed do
Stayed in 4 mixed dorm for two nights over weekend. Motel is good, but people always leave dirty dishes in the sink. Also the big public fridge there is very noisy. The noise of aircon in the room was loud and quite disturbing.

Hello, Unfortunately from time to time (despite the number of times people are asked) there are some guests who continue to not be ideal in the cleaning up area. Feel sure this happens in most hostels. In reality, we thoroughly clean everything in the house everyday to make things perfect for our guests. The portable aircon unit in the dorm is a little noisy when being used I agree - it was left to us by another guest so thought it would be a welcome addition during the heat of February in lieu of fans.

Good Basic Place to Stay in Brisbane
This is a good basic place to stay, especially if you are passing through. It's in a neighborhood so there weren't restaurants close by. Since I was on my way to the airport in the morning I was unable to work out breakfast. Rooms were clean and small, worked well for an overnight. Shared bathrooms so shower planning was important. The common area was well used-there is a kitchen if you want to cook. The house itself is old, it was quiet the night I stayed but walls are a bit thin.

It's a shame you didn't know about all the very closeby restaurants i.e. Indian, Thai, A-la-carte, Italian, pizza, turkish - just 5 minutes walk....there is an amazing breakfast cafe just over the road from the movie cinema...hopefully we will see you another time and I can share lots of this information with you. Lovely Old World Queensland House
Lovely traditional old Queensland House. The owner Anne is most welcoming and very helpful. Her staff are most helpful also. The house can be noisy in the evenings due to its traditional construction. I.e. thin walls. Would recommend. Very good value for money.

Clean and great value for money
Reminds me of the old charm of how accommodation use to be. Genuine staff, real wood instead steel and plastic, shared clean facilities, no air conditioning but ceiling fans and very airy and has a swimming pool out the back (very welcome during our stay). Definitely consider another stay.

Quiet hostel close to shops
The staff were friendly and efficient. The hostel was always kept very clean and the kitchen is well equipped. I stayed in a downstairs twin room which was hot, although a fan was provided. I didn't like that I stayed nearly A week and the sheets on my bed were never changed, and the bin not emptied, despite the other bed being changed regularly for new guests. There are two nice decks to sit on.

Exactly what I wanted
I found the accommodation well kept, with good facilities. My bed was really comfy and I think the mattress was new. Nice and close to cafes and restaurants, and the cinema, and easy 15min walk to the station. Affordable price, would stay there again.

Good but safety MUST be improved
I booked a bed in a 4 bed mixed dormitory. I have been welcomed by the employee Dee whom gave me a tour of the place and directed me to my room where 1 man was in ( only that man in the dormitory). On the evening the same man got completely over drunk and I start to see a coming issue. He became aggressive and I panicked to go to the dormitory. I tried with another guest to reach the emergency number stated on my booking confirmation but after a few tries nobody answered. On the middle of the night the guy sat on my bed and I scared but managed to get him off... at some point he fall asleep. At 5.30am the guy woke me up by shaking me! At 8.30am the manager Anne that I didn't meet previously came in the room I was released! I jumped on her and explained the situation I learned by another woman guest that this guy was drinking since 7 am the previous morning and employee knew it. I feel sorry to say that a proper action would have been to not put me alone as a woman with this kind on drunk person Anne apologized and I could see that she was surprised when I stated that no one answered the phone (Dee number). Management is not on site on night so emergency number is very important for the safety of the guests. If you go there make sure that you can reach someone in case of problems. Pool: does not have a stair to go in / out so this can be difficult for some people. Dormitory are clean, Bed confortable linen clean, Lockers, Washing machine 4$, bathroom clean.

No air conditioners. Summer. Uncomfortable
Booked in for 3 nights at a good price through wotif. As soon as it goes to the page to pay. the price gets bumped up another $100 or so. Get the place, no air conditioners. Stinking hot. My son had to sleep on the floor it was sweltering. Light bulb in the bathroom not fixed before we got there. Then try to leave the day before because its just so uncomfortable but don't even get our money back. Not happy at all.

Absolutely disappointed!
I called when my husband booked. We told the lively lady I was on a course and would be coming in late and leaving early for 3 nights. When I arive it said I was in room 14. So I went down a long hallway that creaked so loud.. down stairs there was a clean lounge room and kitchen.. I kept going to room 14. I opend the door to find my bunk. It was incomplete darkness and I had no power on my ph to see where I was going the guy in the bunk near the door yelled at me. The bunks on the left were snoring so loud.the Room stunk like vomit. The guy yelling at me said my bunk was over there. So with my bags I trip in the dark on their bags and things. Get to my bunk there was a guy asleep in it. I still had the guy yelling at me.. so I got out of there.. it was 2 am by the time I drove 3 hrs home. I almost crashed on the highway for falling asleep. I was late to every class the next day that cost me $1700 to attend. Then that big drive home because no way I was going back to that hole.

Room was clean but furnishing old and bed terrible uncomfortable. No ensuite was not stated in advertising and had room next to shared bathroom. It was to noisy
