The hotel is in a very good location, a little run down, but nothing worse than expected, so that was great. We had the suite, which was very good for two people traveling together, but we had the intention of using the sofa bed so we could sleep in separate rooms. I had asked the hotel to prepare this in advance as we were arriving late and wanted to go to sleep after a 17hour travel period. I sekt a message both through hotels.com and directly. I only received an answer from the direct query. They told me to ask at reception at arrival. Fair enough, so I did this at check in, and I was promised the matter would be handled shortly.
After 30 minutes of waiting we went down to get a bite to eat and I reminded the front desk to please handle this as soon as possible as we wanted to go to bed.
We arrived an hour later and there was a pile of wrinkly sheets on the table, and nothing else. So being sick and tired of waiting and being able bodied, I started pulling out the pretty heavy bed and made my own bed. This is hardly 4* service, and a smaller person or elderly person would not have been able to do it, or might have even injured themselves.
There was another below par experience at breakfast but that could have just been a misunderstanding.
This establishment really lets itself down on the service side of things. It would otherwise be a fantastic option for a stay in New Orleans.
