We needed to stay in a hotel for the evening. Because of various events in this area of Kentucky, this was one of the only places that had a room left.
Our experiences, good and bad:
- We had not read the fine-print of our reservation made on hotels.com. We didn't know the office closes at 6pm. Fortunately, someone from the hotel called us at about 6pm and gave us the details of getting into our room.
- However, they gave us a code to enter the house where we would be sharing with other guests. But, the code did not work. Fortunately, other guests were there to let us in.
- We got to our room. It was basically a small upstairs bedroom of this converted home. It did not have a bathroom. We shared one with the other upstairs guest.
- In our room, we found a large dead ant in our bed.
- And the TV in our room did not work.
- In the morning, there was a coffee pot in the kitchen downstairs. I was able to find the coffee, cups, sugar, and sweeteners, but no cream. And, at 6:30 in the morning, there's no one to call.
- On the other hand, the rolling hills around this home, and the nearby winery, are beautiful.
Bottom line: if you need a hotel for the night (like we did), this probably isn't the place for you. A high price for less-than-normal hotel service. But, if you want to get away and find a peaceful place for a few days, Elk Creek may be just the right spot for you.
