Lavenham is one of the best-preserved medieval villages in the country, where narrow streets are alive with period cottages, popular local shops and delightful places to eat. Families will enjoy a trip to the National Trust’s Guildhall, just metres from the property, where vibrant exhibitions, the intriguing Little Hall Museum and the village’s 14th-century church await. More rural Suffolk charm is on offer in the picture-postcard village of Long Melford (5 miles) where you can visit the imposing Melford Hall and explore its 17th-century banquet house, impressive walled gardens and tranquil parkland. Culture vultures will savour a visit to the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds (12 miles), while lovers of the outdoors can easily pass a day discovering the natural beauty of the Dedham Vale National Landscape (8 miles).
Step from the beating heart of Lavenham and into the cosy confines of this welcoming cottage. Be greeted by the social hub of the home, the lounge/diner, where an attractive ornamental fireplace sets the scene for relaxation. Here, rest weary walking muscles on the comfy sofas as you flick on the Smart TV and catch up on your favourite shows. Lay up the dinner table when you get hungry and move through to the compact but well-appointed kitchen to find all you’ll need to cook up a well-deserved dinner for your loved ones. Enjoy the chef’s work back in the living space, or if the weather permits, dine alfresco out in the courtyard garden. At the end of each day away, climb the cottage stairs, walk past the well-equipped family bathroom and choose from a sumptuous king-size bedroom and a cosy double, both of which boast good storage space and dressing tables.
