by Barcelona Turisme Duration 9h Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is €16

Explore Casa Vicens, the first house of Gaudí, and his first important work of art. The house is an architectural gem and it was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

Constructed between 1883 and 1885 by order of Mr. Manuel Vicens, Casa Vicens is one of the first masterpieces of Modernism, the anticipation of the later work of Gaudí and a vivid example of the airs of aesthetic renewal that were breathed in the 19th century in all of Europe.

Originally, it was projected as a holiday home with a garden, in which geometric shapes and rich ornamentation, inspired by the surrounding vegetation, are present both in the exterior of the house and in the Its different interior spaces. It is Gaudi's first masterpiece and one of the first buildings to kick off the Modernism movement in Catalonia and Europe. The current configuration of Casa Vicens and its land is the result of many changes and transformations, with three clearly differentiated spaces: the original construction from 1883-1885 designed by Antoni Gaudí; the expansion from 1925 designed by Joan Baptista Serra de Martínez; and the garden surrounding the building.
