”Luis and Maurice were very professional and helpful during our stay. Luis helped us with arranging activities and transportation. Maurice served us during breakfast and dinner and a lady who was always smiling and gracious. The ladies who cleaned our rooms provided towels and toiletries when needed. ”Villa San Ignacio is a wonderful hotel with excellent service. We enjoyed the pool, restaurant, games and beautiful walking trails. But most of all we appreciated the friendly and attentive staff who ensured that all of our needs were met! ”

”Well maintained classy hotel on top of the hill overlooking San Juan. Nice coffee trail starts from the door. Pool is very small and was out of function. The only dinner place around is hotel's restaurant. The food was good but clearly overpriced.”

”We spent two nights in a boutique type hotel Volcanes. It was located in the very center of Alajuela. It’s a small family run hotel with a good friendly english speaking staff. Breakfast is served by your order and it certainly is fresh. Rooms are very tidy as all the public areas. You can find rooms for different price categories. We liked it very much. ”

”This little boutique hotel was absolutely perfect. Not only did it have rooms that could sleep all 6 of us, they are little individual casitas. The grounds were beautiful, and was only accessible behind a gate so we felt very safe parking and walking around the property. Pool was large and clean. Didn’t get to try breakfast as we left at 5:30am but check in was super easy and the front desk gentlemen was very kind and helpful. ”The owner, Gaucho (I believe) was helpful and friendly. He offered me some of his homemade dinner and set me up with a taxi early in the morning to catch my flight the next day. The location is in a quiet safe neighborhood just a few minutes walk from downtown Alajuela. The house is modern and has his modern Art throughout the home. The upstairs rooftop balcony is a treat and offers great views. Very hospitable experience which I enjoyed and would love coming back again.”
