”The setting is beautiful, with a lap pool and pond adjacent. Our room had a kitchenette, so helpful as the place is 3 km from town. Pedro and his furry friends are all fabulous.”

”We went a little off-season and not many were there. The place is located in the countryside with lovely surroundings. The inital plan was to go into the little town of Cercal for dinner in elthe evening, but we changed our plans and stayed for dinner at Matinha instead. That was a good decision... the food was very nice and typical rustic traditional Portuguese food. Loved it. Everyone was super helpful and serviceminded. It was a great stay.”

”We stayed over night in this charming little town of Santiago do Cacém. The hotel is centrally located, hidden on a hilltop and surrounded by lush trees. It's well designed with the public spaces daringly tiled in black and white modern interpretations of traditional Portuguese tiles. The room was spacious, nicely designed, excellent beds, and a with a small balcony with stunning views towards the major hill with the castle and a church. ”The pool was closed and has been for some time as they are rebuilding it. This was not advertised when booking nor was it communicated to us afterwards. Bike hire and meals also need to be arranged the day before , again this wasn't communicated to us when booking or when speaking to the reception on the phone prior to arriving. It's a lovely village but I think it's not ok to advertise facilities that aren't available as this was a big reason why we chose it. I would definitely go again though...
