”The guesthouse is nice enough but the staff were standoffish to begin with. There was an unexpected extra charge for my dog to stay. They had their large dogs roaming freely, which was intimidating to nervous dogs on leads. The shower in our room was old and complicated to use. I forgot an expensive orthopaedic pillow at the guesthouse and requested it to be sent to me. The owner assured me he had it, charged me €35 and sent an old battered cushion with no cover at a cost of €9. Overall the stay...

”Incredibly beautiful castle, grounds and room. Highly advise a castle bedroom if you can! Very clean, comfortable and huge. Biggest drawback was limited dining options during the week-same menu for lunch and dinner that gets boring pretty fast. Breakfast was tasty and lots of options all included. Close to Dublin- we didn’t have a car but 45 minutes by train and then 10 minute taxi made it easy (except book taxi ahead as Athy is pretty small). Worthwhile for the luxury to stay in a castle!”
