Unseasonable weather forced the cancellation of the show I was going to Atlanta to see. I didn't get trip insurance, which is on me. I did, however, call the hotel the second I heard. I promptly got a non-human offer to be called back by the reservations desk the second someone was available. And waited. I'm still waiting, two days later and well after paying for a room I couldn't use. I can bear the cost of a missed stay if I have to. Not getting even the chance to speak to a human being about it is harder to bear. Maybe I would have been better off with a cheap motel with one actual person sitting near a phone at the front desk, instead of a large hotel with ample staff backed by a large chain.
