Located just south of Downtown Atlanta, Castleberry Hill is a vibrant, artistic, and historically rich urban community. Known for its creative energy and unique character, the neighborhood features many early 20th-century warehouse buildings that have been transformed into modern lofts, apartments, and condos. This mix of historic charm and contemporary living makes Castleberry Hill a standout destination for visitors seeking an authentic Atlanta experience.
The area is culturally diverse and continues to grow, with a thriving mix of retail shops, restaurants, galleries, and entertainment venues. Its proximity to Downtown attractions, easy access to highways, and convenient public transportation options make it a major draw for both residents and visitors alike.
Castleberry Hill is steeped in history. The neighborhood grew rapidly after the Civil War and supported much of Atlanta’s early development. Its streets were once served by Atlanta’s first horse-drawn trolley line, and the railway that defines its street and building patterns is as old as the city itself. The district was recognized for its historical significance and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it Atlanta’s eighth Landmark District.
Today, Castleberry Hill is in the midst of a renaissance, with historic commercial buildings converted into stunning loft homes while preserving the neighborhood’s industrial heritage. Visitors can explore its deep roots, enjoy its creative energy, and experience a neighborhood where history, art, and modern urban living blend seamlessly.
