”The Bookhouse is a wonderful concept! Prioritizing books, making them accessible everywhere, is delightful. There were adventurous and playful touches, including the secret hide-away on the first floor, behind a bookcase. Housing a hotel in a very old house is another terrific choice. The restoration process is clearly in progress; it's understandable that it's a long-term project. Drawbacks were largely fixable. Whatever scent is used in the house, apparent on the threshold, overwhelming...

”Staff screwed me over by cancelling my 3 night stay because I had to check in virtually the first night due to complications…and would not refund my money. Contacted hotel, Expedia, and hotel parent company all refused to help receive a refund. I purchased trip insurance and this doesn’t qualify apparently. I had to book another hotel last minute and cost another $400 plus the money they refuse to refund.”

”Bed was prob just a box spring with plywood on it. Walls paper thin, dog barking at any movement in the halls.”

”This disgusting dirty hotel (can't really call it that!) is a disgrace! Looks like the rugs haven't been cleaned in years! No plastic cups in the bathroom to use and when asking the clerk at the desk he couldn't find any anywhere! The idea of a light breakfast is a joke! The soda machine takes your money but didn't dispense any soda! Called a studio with a kitchen, but no plates, silverware, pots or pans or anything to use or cook with! I would never recommend this place to anyone!”

”Not well maintained, heating / cooling unit did not work well, and the bathroom was not well cleaned.”

”The room initially looked fine. But then we noticed the dirty towels and that the trash hadn’t been emptied. It took a bit to get clean towels and there seemed to be no real care about the problem.”

”What ever you do don’t use your debit card to pay. They take double the amount per night as a hold and don’t tell you upon check in. I’m still waiting for these pending 1200 to go back into my bank account to be able to use. I wish someone would have told me that I should use a credit card when paying at property everything else was good! But trapped funds is extremely inconvenient.”

”I loved this hotel…the only thing I disliked was that you could heard conversations in the next room as if they were sitting in front of you. VERY thin walls. The hot breakfast was wonderful with many options and they had a spacious and clean breakfast room. Bedding was also very comfortable.”
