Our July 2025 stay at the Waring House left a lot to be desired. We have tried to contact the property privately to resolve our concerns but haven’t heard back despite 3 attempts to contact the property.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by unenthusiastic reception staff. Despite branding itself as a “resort” we quickly realized it was anything but. The staff were confused when we requested ice because there was no ice maker in our building or fridge in our room. We felt like we were an inconvenience the few times we requested assistance.
We immediately noticed our room in the House Next Door building was damp and musty, with the carpets feeling wet to the touch. The curtains had dust and dirt fall from them when we moved them. The charming and quaint rooms we saw in photos in reality are dated and dingy.
The bedding didn’t fit the beds properly which resulted in the mattress pads pulling up and exposing the mattress. Housekeeping barely attempted to make up the beds on our second morning, with the bedding tossed on the bed and the mattress still visible with no effort made to actually make the bed. The bathroom desperately needed a deep cleaning, with urine and dust on the toilet paper holder and built up dust in the vent.
The restaurant staff were the friendliest we met on the property, with Heather and Izzy being attentive and made our stay memorable.
We would not return to the Waring House and caution other travellers who are considering booking this property.
