This hotel earns 2 stars solely because the bed was comfortable and the front desk staff was courteous. Everything else about this stay was unacceptable.
Both house phones in the room were broken. Two “clean” towels had visible hair on them. The property is outdated and poorly maintained.
What truly pushed this stay into unacceptable territory was housekeeping’s handling of a basic request. After discovering the dirty towels, I asked for replacements. Housekeeping delivered them without knocking and left them on the floor outside the door. After waiting more than 20 minutes, I opened the door to notify the front desk that we had not received the towels — only to find them sitting on the floor. Towels intended for guest use were placed directly on the ground. That is unsanitary and completely unprofessional.
This was my first visit to Birmingham, and this property ensured it will be my last stay here. I will not return, nor would I recommend it to anyone expecting basic cleanliness and service standards.
