”First time staying here, we were there for 2 nights. Reception staff were lovely, really friendly every time we spoke to them and even had a laugh on the phone. Proper nice vibe. ”Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. ”Overall the hotel was clean and comfortable. We felt that they were short staffed in the evenings. We ate in the hotel restaurant on our first evening and it was disappointing. Our first 3 choices of starter (out of 8 on the menu) were not available. The mains took almost an hour to arrive and when they did, none of our 4 meals was hot.
