”We spent a night at this lovely place on the outskirts of Montagu. There is a feeling of being out in the country, without actually being too far away from the very pretty town. The room is nicely furnished, very good bed. The views from the private patio are wonderful. Very good breakfast. Unfortunately we didn´t do the tour of the Botanical Products manufacturing, on site - where lovely organic beauty products are lovingly made. We hope to do that next time!”

”My wife and I stayed for two nights. We had the Africa Suite which was comfortable, well furnished and spacious with a huge naturally-lit bathroom. The property itself is well maintained with lovely semi tropical gardens and a nice pool area. 4 stars would not be enough but I would have given 4 1/2 if I could for a couple of reasons. (1) the hotel is a long way from the centre (30/40 minute walk at least and) where most of the restaurants are and (2) although efficient, the lady on reception...

”Beautiful setting, views were great from our Fish Eagle loft. Walking distance to museums, restaurants and the little town centre. Short drive to farms and nature reserve. ”

”Our stay was great. The host was outside and greeted us when we drove up. She directed us to our room (an upgrade) and explained the services, mainly breakfast since it was winter. Speaking of breakfast, the hot plate was delicious, a great start to our morning. Only issue was the cold. It was in the high 30s/low 40s and there was no heat in the room or breakfast area. The extra blanket helped, but there was no where to sit that was a reasonable temperature. The staff we met were all fabulous....

”We’ve stayed 3 or 4 times at Excelsior, and, as last visit, had a wonderful time. The setting is amazing, Kirstin who runs it is lovely, very efficient and an amazing cook! James who is maitre d’, is also very personable and helpful. Both of them make sure your stay is top class. There’s a golf buggy you can use to look round the vineyard. The wine is very good indeed, and guests get to drink it free, whether lounging round the beautiful pool or enjoying one of Kirstin’s wonderful...

”We had a great one night stay when taking the NCCR (New Cape Central Railway) wine tasting train in Robertson. Good walking distance to the raiway. Friendly staff, great beds, excellent location and stunning gardens. I especially loved the sculptures in the garden. We bought some food and wine after the train, and had a stay at home tapas dinner. The staff helped us to make a fire, and we sat outside in the fall evening enjoying the lovely outdoor space ”
