”Lovely old pub in beautiful location, excellent breakfast, with home made preserves. The dinner menu looked very exciting but sadly we were dining elsewhere. Staff most helpful, carrying luggage and providing information. There is an onsite brewery! The night was extremely hot, so difficult to sleep, but very comfortable bed and well equipped room. The bathroom could have done with refurbishment to the tiling and taps, but was acceptable. There is a large parking area, by the river garden.”

”Basic room. Although there were patio doors opening onto the car park there were no windows so the room was very hot during our stay. We brought our own fan so were able to manage but would have been very uncomfortable if we hadn’t. Bed was not very comfortable. Electric shower and the plug in the sink got stuck down if used. We arrived at 5pm on Sunday and told no food served after 4pm. Also no breakfast available. We stayed 2 nights and ate at the pub on the second night and food was good....

Tidiness and service were of a high standard. Breakfast gets our ten points out of ten, always suiting our needs. For us everything in the town was within a convenient walking distance with attractive routes to choose from.”
