  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. Beautiful room, in perfect location.

Me and my boyfriend chose this property for 2 nights since it looked very spacious, modern, and near to the city centre. Our expectations were met, AND exceeded. It was beautiful, spacious, and cozy. And the bed was incredibly comfortable, even though they were two twin beds connected. The bathroom was modernised and had lots of space for toiletries etc. The room even had controlled heating and wifi. The market square is only a 5 minute walk from the property and parking is right outside the door, and even an underground carpark a stones throw away. The front door to access the building is a little tough to open (have to pull hard on the door whilst simultaneously putting the code in, then push it open) but once you’ve got the hang of it, it’s perfectly fine. All in all me and my partner are actually quite sad to leave Brugge. And not just because the city is bursting with festivity, but also the lovely place we stayed at. Highly recommend!

The perfect location

We visited Bruges in late June/early July. This room was the perfect location. A beautiful location in the center of it all on a tree lined street. Easy walking to all Bruges has to offer. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. I wish every place had this much closet space! It's an old building so the stairs are a bit steep and we're on the older side, so the two of us took up one suitcase at a time and it worked out well. Anthony was a wonderful host and was very patient helping me navigate the website and location. A great place to stay! Thank you!

Great location!

This was a great stay! The room was clean and comfortable, check-in was a breeze and we were literally minutes from the action but not on top of it so it was quiet when we needed it to be. Thank you for a fabulous time in Bruges <3

Central spot to explore Bruges

We absolutely loved this guest suite! It was an ideal location — we could walk everywhere and come back for a quick rest or to use the bathroom. Plenty of shops and restaurants were around the corner, including a little market for supplies and bottled water. Anthony was very communicative and helpful! We would happily come back to stay!

Perfect stay!

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay. As the listing indicates, you can store your luggage behind a locked door even prior to check in which was very helpful. Within walking distance of the best sites and all the city has to offer. Under 20 min walk from the metro. The space was even bigger than pictured! Highly recommend!
