”Sad to leave but thrilled to have stayed at Akademie. However we do have unfinished business so we will be back, that is certain. Our room was just exceptional: spacious, well equipped and the staff fired up the balcony hottub based on our return time, you might think a hottub in the glorious weather we had, but yes…. To sit there for 30 minutes and just stare at the mountains and the blue sky above was magical. The breakfasts either served in the orangery of pool side were a taste bud delight....

”Stunning bedroom views from this lodge and exceptional service and kind attitude from Shannon ! Food was also great. It’s an older lodge that has been upgraded with excellent bathroom fixtures and main bedroom lighting. Wifi is a little slow, early morning hot water taps need to run a bit before hot water arrives and the sliding partition in our room 2 needs to be replaced with a frosted glass door as the current wooden sliding partition is a little stiff to open . Otherwise an excellent choice...

”Extraordinary place. If you have any love of gardens, horticulture, farm-to-table food, or just general wholesome living then you will enjoy it here. The gardens and farm are not a performance - at over 2000 acres and something like 700 staff they somehow manage to seamlessly blend luxury with genuine production, and the variety is extraordinary. There is true vision behind this project.”

”Beautiful, clean, family friendly which means that everything closes at nine, so no late night drinks in Spier. Very friendly staff. Nothing close to this so you need a car or uber to go anywhere. Uber to Stellenbosch less than 5 euros. Beautiful wines, especially reds.”

”My stay was quite adequate for my purposes. The only confusing thing was that I had filtered on the online process for air-conditioning yet ended up with a room with no aircon.”

”The staff was very friendly helpful. The room was huge, clean, quiet, wifi great, all the meals I had was tasty and well presented. I noticed that the service at the pool was very slow and it took forever to pick up the dirty dishes. I am not sure if the manager is giving enough guidance”
