The house was generally wonderful and I review it more generally below, but begin with the natural history/biologist’s perspective. The location was beautiful, right on the beach in a lovely and intact sand dune system (i.e., native plants mostly in place, not *yet* overrun by European beach grass or ice plant). The beach is bordered to the south and north by the mouth of the Salinas River and Elkhorn Slough, respectively. Walks on the beach and nature walks in the dunes and nearby estuaries were spectacular. If that isn’t your cup of tea, just kicking back with a cocktail watching the breakers, cooking in the kitchen, hanging in the hot tub etc is choice as well. :). We saw dolphins, surf scoters, and pelicans actively feeding in the surf zone.
The owner was very friendly and responsive. House very comfy, warm, and clean. The kitchen is very well supplied for a vrbo: great utensils, just about every appliance one could need (large toadter oven, blender, croc pot, etc…). We cooked from scratch and found all the tools we needed.
We had a wonderful time :).
