  • Welcome to The Creek House! This one of a kind waterfront and rail-trail front property is perfectly situated between Pine Creek and the Pine Creek Rail Trail. Pine Creek ranks as a top destination for Anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. Rafting, canoeing, and kayaking are some of the best ways to experience the beauty of the gorge! The 65-mile rail trail is ideal for biking, hiking, running and Cross Country Skiing and was ranked a Top 10 Bike Ride by the USA Today.

    This custom built 3,400 square foot home features 4 traditional bedrooms, a low-ceiling loft that sleeps four above the recreational garage, and a brand new pull-out queen sofa in the 550 square foot family living room. 2 full baths and 2-1/2 baths make it ideal for up to 3 families. The Master Bedroom features a whirl pool tub and top/bottom day bed with stunning views of Pine Creek! Sitting on the deck and by the fire pit are the perfect spots to watch all that nature has to offer. Book your stay...we know you'll enjoy the Slate Run area as much as we do! The location of the house was the best part of the rental. It was between the trail and the creek where we spent most of our time. We enjoyed watching the eagle flying overhead!The house could use some TLC.....spots on carpets, needs curtains or blinds in first floor bathroom, and bedroom upstairs. The pots and pans were in rough shape. Also, mice got into our food stored on counter and patio floor needs leveled.

Great location - right on pine creek! Fish right out of the back door for trout. Very comfortable place for many people. Beautiful surroundings.

Hands down best place yet. My Family loved it. Home has everything you need. Take a Telescope, field glasses a camera and be prepared for the wildlife. Excellent time.

Perfect location for fun

You can walk right into the creek or hop on a bike on the trail. There is a great variety of wild life in the area and a comfortable size house for the extended family.

Overall, we were disappointed in this property and confused by the difference in the most recent reviews and what we found upon our arrival. The disappointment was that many of our misfortunes that appeared in previous reviews(6/23, 7/23, 8/24)had not been corrected. First, the game room was unusable (except for the darts)because it smoked when and unclean, i.e. no hockey puck or air flow for the air hockey game, beer can stuck in the pool table pocket, etc. Second, the oven needed deep cleaning because it smoked when preheating causing the smoke detectors to go off, thus being unusable. Third, dining room chairs, deck and some fire pit furniture was dangerous due to repair issue. Further details on cleanliness issues, repair issues and suggestions on how to make this home more 'guest friendly' were left for the host(as requested in the welcome binder). We absolutely loved the location and the wildlife that the property supplies. It is apparent that it had been(and is still trying to be) a magnificent home but continues to need more 'tender loving care and investment' for future guests.

Wonder home.

Property was amazing. Owners were easy to reach and extremely helpful. We saw the eagle on Saturday and enjoyed fishing. No trout but a few small mouth bass were caught. We are looking forward to satying here again in the future!

Family weekend

Location was absolutely perfect, and the house served us well. The fifth bedroom over the garage was not made up and lack of air conditioning made it unusable for us. Intact screens and fans would help make the space usable as a bedroom. We had very high temps during our stay and the second floor of the house remained very stuffy and hot despite AC. Windows and window sills could use a good cleaning.

We had a group of 10 adults for a long weekend. Overall the property is “okay”. The backyard is awesome. Fire pit along the stream, bald eagles, serene setting. A nice way to end each day. The shortcomings of this property are not obvious from the VRBO pics. The bunk room is not suitable for adults. The ceiling is less than 6ft high, the space does not have air conditioning and it is not accessible from the main house. You exit the main house, enter the garage, go up some stairs. Very odd layout & none of this is mentioned in the prop details. The kitchen pics look great but there is no dishwasher, and the kitchen is not well-stocked for cooking group meals. Plan to bring your own items such as pyrex dishes for roasting, stock pots, measuring cups, etc. These basic items are missing. Also, there is essentially one normal, full size bathroom. The “full” bathroom in the garage is tiny. And the master bedroom has a tub in the main part of the room. Very strange. Especially because there are two beda in the master suite. So unless you plan to bathe in front of your room mate, you will need to use the only normal size shower…which is on the first floor. There is no normal full size bath on the 2nd floor. Again, very strange layout. The host requests you to wash your own linens & towels prior to departure. And, take your garbage with you. Even though the renter is required to pay a cleaning fee. Ridiculous request for a property that accommodates 10 people. Look for a better option

Beautiful House/Location - Bathrooms Need Work

We've stayed at the Creek House two years in a row with large groups of friends for a fall bike trip weekend on the Pine Creek Rail Trail. We love the location and setting of this property and for the number of people you can fit in this place, it's a great deal. Our one critique is the bathroom situation. If you have 10 plus people, it's difficult sharing the two bath/shower facilities... especially the one by the garage with a window and no curtains.

Perfect location

The house is situated on Pine Creek with the rail trail on the other side. Nice quiet spot. The house and garage were lacking a bit in cleanliness and can use some updating. Garage/game room was pretty dirty. We swept the floor and outside deck. That being said, we would probably consider renting again.

Stunning Location

We chose this house for our family vacation spot and it did not disappoint! The house sits on the most stunning property between the bike/walking path and the creek. We tubed down the creek almost every day, hiked the waterfall which is directly across the creek from the house and walked the path to eat dinner at a local restaurant. We also hiked the Grand Canyon of PA and toured the Penn Caves. It is definitely in a remote area so make sure you get your groceries before you arrive and bring some Deet because you're in the woods. Minor inconveniences for the stunning view and joy of having a water park in your back yard. It was a privilege to be allowed to stay in this beautiful location!
