Food residue- false - I was mortified when I read this, and then frustrated when I investigated, because it was not true - there were some hard water marks, as we are on a well, and that's all. Rail held together by duct tape - false The rail is solidly held in place by a thick internal rod while we get a new coupling (on back-order/ factory was closed due to covid). This was done out of an abundance of caution, as we noticed the old coupling had bent lightly. The duct tape is to cover a sharp edge from the bend so guests don't nick their fingers, while we wait for the part. ( I even matched the tape and rail color) Outlets not working -. false - some outlets are tied to light switches on the wall, as they are intended for lamps. The switch must be flipped on for the outlet to work. Dishwasher not working - false - this was user error, and the instructions are framed and sitting on the window sill, because people have made this mistake before. All he had to do was read them. Bedding is old.- false - half of our bedding is three weeks old. the other half is one year old (we rotates all bedding between stays- we have four sets per bed) pillows are all three weeks old. I did replace two set of sheets after this review, because we take reviews seriously, but this is nit picky. Refrigerator door sticks open - mostly false - These are french door style refrigerators - you need to push them together when you close them so that the vertical seal rotates into place on its hinge between the two doors. This is the design of both refrigerators. hardly a maintenance issue. smoke detector hanging by wires - true - I replace the battery back-ups every year on April 15th - I must not have twisted the detector properly in place and at some point it came loose. This guest was the first to notice, but don't worry, we assembled a team of experts, and they were able to procure a chair stand on it and twist the smoke detector back into the mount, so, thankfully, that crisis was resolved. No garbage disposals - True - sorry we have a sophisticated mechanical septic system because we are a waterfront property. Disposals are not an option for this system. Finally - the - "for what it costs per night comment" - is very irksome. These homes are the cheapest waterfront homes on the lake, and we believe they are the best value available. There are two houses, and you are renting each house for the cost of a nice hotel room. If this guest wanted a super high end luxury waterfront home, they are available, for two to three times the nightly price we charge. I'm sure he would have given those houses a savage review as well. We've been doing this for fifteen years over six properties. in most years, seventy percent of our renters are repeat renters. Every now and then we get a review like this at one of our properties, usually after a rainy weekend in Chelan. What is most frustrating is that we will respond to any complaint or concern immediately when people call. Any or all of his concerns could have been addressed. But he never called. The first Complaint I heard was in this ridiculous review, which he left after I gave him a 5 star review (he waited). I love these two houses - this review stung me a little bit, which I think was his intent, so well done Chris. You win. I'm truly sorry you didn't enjoy your stay, and I hope writing the review helped somehow.
