DOME on the Hill

“DOME on the Hill” is a unique geodesic dome home which sits on 6.51 acres near Chillicothe in south-central Ohio. This 3200 sq. ft. home has 5 bedrooms, 3 ½ baths, 2 living quarters, dining area, huge kitchen, and laundry room. It was designed and erected near a major highway making it easily accessible to shopping, restaurants, and local attractions, yet it is completely private – nestled on top of a hill surrounded by trees. The large deck with patio furniture & lighted grill, 6-person waterfall hot tub, and fire pit with log benches add the final touches to this property, which is perfect for the nature lover, families and friends on vacation, those who need a work retreat, or the person who just wants some quiet time. “Dome on the Hill” is truly a secluded sanctuary. Wonderful stay. The hostess was very gracious and welcoming. The house is obviously one of the most unique properties out there, but, in addition, is very well maintained and surprisingly roomy. The property is gorgeous, and the hot tub was relaxing. Hope to come back again!

This is by far the coolest and most unique house I've ever stayed in. I really enjoyed learning about the history of the property and the area; it felt like I was staying in a private museum! The host also goes above and beyond to prepare the place. I would absolutely stay here again.

First Melody what a wonderful host.She showed kindness to my daughters and I .She gave us a beautiful tour and the back story of the Dome.This property quickly became our home.I will forever remember the memories of our home away from home.I will 100% be visiting again. And the cleanliness of the Dome was unbelievable. Everything was just right.I can go on and on about the Dome .The property is beautiful .Melody has everything you can think of and more .The beds were so comfortable.Melody is gracious. And the details show how she decorated her property with Love and for others to enjoy.We visited on june 5 to the 11th.And it hard to leave.I wish I can rate more then 5 stars.Beacuse I would give her a 100 stars if I could.And last but not least the Hot tub was wonderful .Thank you Melody for all you do.You are truly appreciated.

This place is great! Very clean, nice and neat. One of the cleanest places I've ever stayed. The history of the place is interesting. The hot tub is amazing. We'll definitely keep this on our list of places to stay when working in the area.

Melody was AMAZING! She met us at the bottom of the hill and followed her up to the house where she gave us the tour, history, fun stories and pointed out where everything was located. We have stayed at a good amount of rentals but this one truly had everything you could need and way more than most would expect. We loved that is had everything that we needed, plenty of room and amenities. This property is close to anything you need including grocery stores, gas stations, local attractions and downtown. We really enjoyed the relaxing ambiance and the privacy that the Dome provided. While it was close to town it was far enough away for a peaceful and relaxing get-a-way!The host really goes the extra mile with quality toilet paper, extra towels, kitchen supplies, coffee station perks, easy open hot tub, firewood, and even baked us some fresh brownies!! Just an above and beyond experience in an uniquely designed home with lovely scenery. We had a blast!

The property was unique which was the reason for selection. It was close enough to Chillicothe for food and entertainment. ( Definitely take the free trolley). Unfortunately it rained most of the weekend so we could only enjoy the outdoors for a couple of hours. The stairs are unique but if someone in your party has trouble with stairs, consider them for the main floor. Plenty of room for every one.

I cannot say enough how more than pleased we were with our stay at DOME on the Hill! Melody is not just a host. She is a kind caring soul with a heart of gold. We were looking for a unique structure to stay in and enjoy. Dome on the Hill was that and more. It is peaceful and secluded, surrounded by trees. It was surprisingly spacious, well maintained, and designed. Hearing the history was both fascinating and a joy. Melody has created a serene, soothing, welcoming atmosphere where we felt right at home. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, walks around the property, reading under the tree, air hockey wars, gaming, races in the yard, grilling out, and meals on the deck in the fresh air as a family. The rooms are not cramped and the beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. We had no other destination than to stay at the DOME and it was more than enough. We have already recommended it to friends and family who've put it on their must go lists. If you're on the fence, there is no question, it's in the bag, just go, relax, enjoy and feel at peace and at home. A huge THANK YOU to Melody and her family for all they do to make DOME on the Hill so incredible.

Such a beautiful home andhomeowner! The home is unique and fun. The sprawling acreage is so peaceful. And this is probably the cleanest VRBO I’ve ever stayed in. We were in the Hocking Hills area to celebrate my daughter’s 17th birthday… She’s a big fan of being outdoors. So my husband, me, our 20-year-old son and our 17-year-old daughter rented this home so that we could hike around the Hocking Hills. Melody, the homeowner, is unbelievably kind and super quick with communications. I am a bit of a clean freak, so it was great to see that the home was impeccably clean. Everything we needed was available for us, including firewood to start our outdoor fire where we roasted hotdogs and marshmallows. I would stay here again.

This property is amazing. The story of the construction, the familial connection...it all gives the property a special quality. Such attention to detail, comfort, peace, and convenience all lend an air of special elegance. Our host was sweet and attentive, but let us ha e our space. After an exhausting December, my husband and I along with our friends spent a few days to refresh and re-energize for the New Year. We loved our time at Dome on the Hill. We played games, built puzzles, hot tubbed, explored the area, and had wonderful home cooked meals in an amazing kitchen. The house was completely stocked with all that we needed to relax and have an enjoyable time together. We are all history buffs, so a walk at the Hopewell Cultural Center was fascinating. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We are thinking of coming back during the Perseid Meteor Shower in August !!

The house, in addition to being beautifully maintained and decorated, had a uniqueness with its geodesic design that added to the experience. The location of the house is like a secret hide-away. The entrance is "concealed" and you have to drive up a tree lined steep hill to get to the open field where the house sits. It gives you a feeling of being isolated while only 10-15 minutes from Chillicothe. The owner was extremely friendly and the most hospitable of any property we have ever stayed at. She met us and gave us insights into the house, the area, and things to do, which added to our enjoyment. We stayed a week on a family vacation where we mostly just wanted to spend time together and relax. This was a great place to do that with big spaces to be together, and plenty of room to be apart.

The Dome is a great unique place to stay. It's a short drive from both the the city of Chillicothe, and the Scioto trail state park. Melody keeps the place in immaculate condition, everything works well, everything is clean, and she does her best to make sure you enjoy your stay. I cannot recommend this place enough

This is an amazing place, and Melody is an awesome host. Everything is beautiful, spotless, and thoughtfully appointed. The pictures online are great, but experiencing it in person is way better. The kitchen is fully equipped, and everything else you need is in abundance (towels, blankets, ideas for what to do). The downstairs is pretty much a separate suite, would be great for a couple with small kids or for tweens/teens. Truly a great place for family to get together. It is surrounded by lovely fields, and I only wish we had had time to use the fire pit and hot tub! And Melody baked brownies for us!! You will leave here feeling refreshed and ready to come back :)

My friends and I were blown away how convenient, well stocked, and thoughtful everything here was during our stay. From the multiple coffee stations down to the fact that the knives were actually sharp. What a beautiful and unique home! We saw both deer and turkey on the grounds. Also, the hot tub is phenomenal!!

Where do I start, my wife and I came from AZ to see our daughter from NC and our grandson and great grandchildren in Ohio. We picked location due to grandchildren and we are so glad we picked the DOME. The most pleasant experience we could imagine from the accommodations to the fantastic host. My wife and I travel extensively, and our host Melody made this one of most memorable stays, especially for our family. If you are ever in the Chillicothe area and looking for a very relaxing and pleasant stay, pick the DOME and say hi to Melody for us.

The Dome on the Hill is SO unique and cozy! We loved everything about the house and gorgeous property. Our host Melody was outstanding in every way and surprised us with a batch of warm brownies upon arrival that were out of this world delicious! I have stay at many places during our business/ women retreats. The dome on the hill is definitely the most unique. Our host Melody met us at the entrance which was hidden away. It felt like we were traveling to a secret gnome home with the open meadow and surrounding forest. The space of the doors and the dome itself was amazing. But the amazement did not stop there. Melody led us on a tour while telling us about the dome's history. She is soo thoughtful. Her special touches really made us feel at home. She really is a one woman show. She gives tours, cleans and made yummy cookie brownies for us. We, The Salty Girls, loved our stay and plan to have our next business retreat here. Only negative was we did not have enough time to work on improving our trade skills of massage, reflexology and holistic modalities. It inspired us to reach out to local vacation rentals around our area of Champaign County to offer our services. It really wound have been peaceful to do outside yoga with all the scenery and privacy. We could not even here cars from a nearby road, only the tree leaves swaying. On our last day, a rainstorm blew in and we were in awe as we watched the lighting. And still felt safe. Melody even reached out to check on us.
