”Everything was wonderful at porches. I love the special antique charm. Loved breakfast. The fresh berries were the best. The staff was attentive and helpful. I really loved the claw foot tub and rain shower head. I can’t wait to return.”

”My room has bright enough light. The light switch configuration was a bit tricky, but just try all the switches until you find the right one. I let them know that the upper plug outlet in the bathroom wasn't working- so they took note and will have it repaired for next time. There was enough in the room - most importantly, wifi, nice bed, and reasonable amount of toiletries for the bathroom and shower. Also, the continental breakfast here is amazing and this is what makes them stand out!”

”Room very clean and beds extra comfortable. Lots of small decorating features for a motel and gardens on grounds were extra beautiful. Rooms themselves felt older but with new furnishings. Overall a comfortable stay.”

”Great place, friendly staff, good foot. However, the white elephant in the room as that you can hear through the walls as if the other guests are in your room with you. And I mean hear EVERYTHING. I noticed this in some other reviews before I stayed here - they were comically (and annoyingly) proven right.”

”Older strip type motel. That said room was clean and bed was comfortable. It was good for a couple of days that I stayed. No breakfast available at motel though they did give me a discount coupon to bar/resturant next door. ”

”No detail to my comfort was missed! The innkeeper had fresh baked goodies every afternoon and hot breakfast made from scratch. The historic property is beautiful and convenient to so many art galleries, sweet towns, trails and Tanglewood. Highly Recommended!!”

”We had no functioning wifi until the morning of check-out so we had no ability to use essentials communication tools given we were relying on it. I notified the front desk and they told us that it was down but didn't know how to fix it. I emailed Management several times and got absolutely no feedback. Also, it was a heat wave with 100F temperatures and the only ice machine was broken so we couldn't keep our food and drink cool on our travels.”

”South Shire is a quaint Victorian Inn on Elm Street within walking distance to the center of Bennington, VT. The Inn has a family feel and elegance. We traveled as a couple. It was easy to get to sites and enjoy fine restaurants. The Inn is in keeping with the feel of strength of the Bennington community, as a place for artists, musicians, and people's expression generally to thrive. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend South Shire.”
