”We stayed 10 days in Ireland, driving around staying in different towns. We wanted to spend a day in Kilkenny and we decided to stay outside the city limits. We were a bit worried that it was too far, but it was worth it. The staff were excellent, the rooms were clean and felt like a traditional modern hotel. The bar and restaurant were good. I would 100% stay here again on my next trip.”

”Close to town of Carlow”

”This place is absolutely magical! The property is enchanting, the hostess fascinating and the breakfast out of this world! The shepherd’s huts are so charming, I guess you could call it “glamping”? The one thing I would say is that my knees aren’t great and I found the steps to the huts a little tricky, so not ideal for anyone with mobility issues, but other than that it’s a 10 out of 10! I wish I could have stayed longer.”

”The room was a good size, clean, and comfortable. The Pub was full of great people and Matt was super friendly.”

”Pleasant enough stay. Very helpful staff and great breakfast. Quiet surroundings. Needs a little bit renovation, but otherwise recommended.”

”Clean, newly renovated rooms. Very friendly staff. Good food.”

”Basic but functional room. Check in was fine but a man of few words.”

”Bedroom was a really good size. Good storage space with a safe and fridge. The bathroom had both a bath and separate shower. Really good choice of Gluten Free food available both for breakfast and evening meals.”

”The Step House hotel was one of our favorite stays on our Ireland trip! We had a beautiful and spacious room that opened onto a terrace overlooking the gardens and mountains in the distance. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast in the 1808 Pub. The staff was wonderful and the extra touches like flowers and prosecco in the room made this the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary and start off our trip! We enjoyed the small town of Borris and walking the Railway trail. We hope to...

”The standard room was dark small and uncomfortable had 1 full bed and a twin it’s a a family room I don’t understand why we were assigned that room we are a couple luckily we don’t spend time in the room. Also the pictures on Expedia did not show that the standard room had this format. We complained but were told that is how all the standard rooms are. Pool area isn’t very nice small pool and there wasn’t a hot tub”

”Kilkea Castle was a wonderful stay. Last minute we booked a room in the Lodges; unfortunately, the actual Castle was all booked up. This didn’t lessen the experience though. The lodge room was clean, comfortable, well-appointed and had a fairway view. We were also able to use the facilities in the castle itself. We weren’t there to golf and that was just as well as the course was closed for maintenance. As a golfer the course did look like a premium course, and I’d love to go back for...

”Very city centre. Parking area behing the hotel, little tricky to find but plenty of room. We are always looking for original retro accommodations and this is it. Hotel itself is attraction. Definitely coming back on our next trip!”

”Perfect location. Great staff which was ready to help at any time. ”

”The hotel is a true old world charm property set in a very peaceful and serene environment. The property is well maintained and the rooms are very comfortable. The bed especially is very comfortable. The food and service is also excellent even though it is very full at weekends as it is a popular wedding and event property. There is a true commitment to quality and sincere warmth in both staff and housekeeping.”
