The house is located on the corner of El Fresnillo Street; despite its minimalist style, it offers all modern amenities. The first floor features a spacious, fully equipped and furnished kitchen/dining area with a storage room containing a refrigerator, freezer, and washing machine. The living room features a wood-burning stove and a double sofa bed; there is also a half-bath on the first floor. First floor: a bathroom with a shower, one bedroom with a double bed, one bedroom with a single bed, and one bedroom with twin beds, with stair access to the rooftop terrace, which is furnished with patio furniture.
Whether you arrive by train or drive down to the village via the MA512 mountain road, you’ll be greeted by a view that will stay with you forever. The river—a true paradise—can be seen at the bottom of the valley as it winds its way through the mountains until it flows into the Mediterranean Sea. This is the backdrop of El Colmenar, with its rolling green meadows and grazing animals.
The village is nestled between the river and Los Alcornocales National Park, with its abundance of flora and fauna. It is this cork oak forest that has provided the main source of employment for its residents, along with the village’s proximity by rail to the coast and the rest of the country.
The pace of life has changed very little over the decades… The three restaurants serve traditional home-cooked meals and are open from morning until night.
You reach La Casa by wandering through narrow, sloping streets from the town center—it’s just a few minutes away. The river is a few minutes away, with a river beach where locals gather to swim and cool off after their siesta.
