Family Friendly Lake House

Free water trampoline and kayaks available to rent.
Newly Renovated!!! This home is located on Simpson Creek at Smith Lake. It’s only 7 minutes from I65 exit 304 and is on a very quiet dead end road. Completely shaded by trees, very large covered patio facing the water. Water front is gradual and has no deep drop off. The home features 4 bedrooms with Queen beds. 2 of the bedrooms feature attached smaller rooms with 3 twin beds and a full sized bed. Perfect for families with small children. For a total of SIX BEDROOMS. There is also a detached building that houses a game room with a sofa. Great place for kids to hang out. The entire property and home is decorated and furnished with families in mind.
***Please inquire about additional weekly and monthly/multi-month discounts during Fall and Winter off season dates.
This would be a great home for extended business trips or interim housing. We also have 3 cabins close by. PM for details. Thank you 😊

  • Final resting place for Brother Joseph, who created the art that is known as Ave Maria Grotto.This is a cemetery of only monks in residence at St. Bernard Abbey. Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 24, 1976, and to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. The stone and concrete models are the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk of St. Bernard's Abbey, who devoted some 50 years to the project, the last three decades (1932 to 1961) almost without interruption. They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. Brother Joseph rarely left Alabama, where he died in 1961.

The house was nice and clean. There were 14 members of our family celebrating Christmas at this wonderful house. We really enjoyed the game room. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals for the 2 nights we were there. We would definitely stay there again!

This was the second time we stayed in the lake house and again, it did not disappoint! There was plenty of space for our large family (4 adults and 5 children ages 3-16) and plenty of activities to keep them occupied. The house was clean and well stocked with all essentials. We were disappointed in the following: 1) The grills were filthy, and no amount of cleaning would have made them usable. We had to go to Walmart and purchase one to grill on.2) The toaster was broken3) The kitchen sink faucet was damaged4) The game room smell was musty and not usable5) I had asked the owner if toilet paper was supplied for the entire group of people for the duration of the stay and was told they supply all for duration. This was not the case. 6) There were damp clothes in the dryer. We didn't discover this until the last day at time of check out. 7) The owner supplied detailed instruction about careful use of kitchen table and counters, etc. When in fact there were scratches and knicks in the table. We did not do any of that damage.

The home was beautiful with its view over looking the lake. The house was clean and comfortable with lots of room. Getting back and forth from town was easy and we enjoyed going to Octoberfest! The water level in the lake was too low for a swim but we enjoyed just sitting on the doc watching the birds.

Very nice house in a beautiful location on the lake. Communication with owner was excellent. My only concern was the stairs being very steep. The master bedroom and bathroom on the main level was a life saver for our older family member. We had a wonderful time!!

Family Vacation

We loved the house and property! The bedrooms were very large so everyone had their own space. We had the best week and one of our daughters actually got engaged while we were there. I don’t think the one set of neighbors are happy when renters are there but overall it was really great!

Lake Life family vacay

We absolutely had the best time at Tara King's lake house. Other than food and floats, we didn't need much else. Her home was well supplied with everything we needed for a relaxing few days with our big ol' family. House was spotless, beds were comfy and lake was a short walk away. Simply perfect. We'll be back again next year if the good Lord allows.

HUGE porch, great Smith Lake views, private dock AND a great property Host!

Great hilltop view of Smith Lake with a private dock for anytime, on-site access to lake below! It’s a lovely, quiet location, has a huge front porch facing the lake AND a private dock. Sitting on that porch with a mug of coffee early in the morning, watching the mist rise from the water, seeing geese forage at lake’s edge… aahhh, what a way to start a day!

Great Lake house spot

It definitely looks a lot bigger on the outside. We also thought there would be 6 individual rooms so that was a little misleading, but overall we really enjoyed our stay. The outside was beautiful and the inside kitchen was perfect.
