Beautiful lake property
This is by far the most well equipped VRBO property we've ever used - from the kitchen with enough items to prepare a meal for 16+ to the bedrooms (3 kings!) and baths. We love to lounge in the cozy family room with its beautiful lake views and wood fireplace. We hope to go back again in the summer to enjoy the lake itself.

Fall wedding weekend
We were in town for a family wedding and this house was perfect for our group. Well equipped and despite the cooler weather we enjoyed kayaking and canoeing on the lake. The fire pit was a nice bonus!

Rustic House on the Lake
This house was in the perfect location and had everything we needed for a 3 night stay. Marian, the host, was very accommodating and responsive to all our needs. The bedrooms were spacious, and the availability of boating equipment was a big plus! We wouldn’t hesitate to visit again!

Lovely spot
We rented this place for overflow guests for our family reunion. Our family members didn’t spend much time there, since the main action was down the street, but they loved the view and reported that the beds were very comfortable. We live down the street from this VRBO location and we love Lake Pocotopaug!

Trinity College Family Get-A-Way
Our visit was center around Trinity College in Hartford. My grandson was playing his first college lacrosse game and parents and grandparents were visiting from Virginia and attended the game. This turned out to be a wonderful location with all the accommodations to make it a mini vacation for the weekend. We loved the house and lake and plan to come back for many more stays in the next four years!

Annual Mother & Daughter Trip
This property is amazing, steps away from the lake. The house has everything you need for your stay. The bedrooms were large and bright, beds were very comfortable. The kitchen and dinning area is large enough for group cooking, the dinning table seats eight easily. The living room was great for movie watching and game playing, which by the way the host has many board games available. The covered porch is perfect for relaxing, reading, having your morning coffee and watching the sun set.

Perfect Lake House Getaway
We have rented many summer homes in past years and this property has been among the very best. The house is beautiful and well-apportioned. The bedrooms are sizable, the beds comfy, plenty of closet and dresser space. The bathrooms were large and well-maintained. The living room was great for movie-night and reading. The kitchen easily allowed for group-cooking. The dining area is large and gave us ample space for family meals and board-gaming. VERY IMPORTANT: For those needing to work virtually part of the time while vacationing, the WIFI was strong throughout the house and on the porch, and there are two desks in the home. We brought a 4' folding table for a third desk. The covered outdoor porch with a gorgeous west-facing (think sunsets!) view was amazing for lounging and reading. The backyard is wonderfully landscaped with flower gardens that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. There is a fire-pit area that served us well for s'mores-making and a sing-a-long. Lake Pocotopaug was wonderful. The house comes with a canoe and three kayaks (two single and one double). The lake is perfectly sized - big enough for an outing, and small enough to circumnavigate the whole of it. We went boating every day! The lake was fine for swimming, and there is a swim-dock about 30 feet into the lake from the house's backyard. Less than a mile away is Sears Park, which has basketball courts and tennis courts, which we used. There is a Stop-n-Shop, Big-Y, CVS, Walgreens, etc... within a couple of miles of the property for easy shopping. Lots of opportunities for day trips. We went to Mystic, CT (45 min) for a nighttime ghost tour, the US Submarine Force Museum (45 min), Mini-Golf (30 min), and to Hartford (35 min)for some specialty foods. We wanted to visit the Mark Twain house in Hartford, but didn't get around to it this trip. All in all, a perfect lake house getaway.

Reunion Perfection!!
I gathered with group of friends from childhood for our 40th high school reunion which was held a nearby Arrigoni Vineyard. Lakeside Ferns was spacious, comfortable, immaculate, and had all the amenities anyone would every want or need for a lake house weekend! We made memories around the fire pit, laughed at our poor corn hole skills, kayaked for hours, and shared yummy meals around the huge dining table. There were 4 TV’s and not one was turned on the entire time!! I would highly recommend this beautiful home on Lake Pocotopaug ~ it was perfection!!! 👌🏼

Amazing time at the lake
We visited with our family of four and some friends and the house was everything we could’ve asked for. In addition to being one of the best stocked rental kitchens I’ve ever experienced, the hosts seem to have thought of all the things you’d want- including everything from bedside chargers, to plentiful towels, to everything you could need for little ones, to boats and floats for the water. The beds were very comfy with lots of extra blankets available, if needed. The lake was a great temperature and it was shallow enough for the kids to enjoy playing and the ground was soft and friendly for feet. I asked my family if we should rent again and my kids gave an enthusiastic “100% YES!”

Lovely weekend at the lake
Best appointed property we have stayed in. Lots of special touches including a well-stocked kitchen with plentiful pots/pans/dishes, tea, coffee, spices, paper goods & smores kit, bathrooms complete with shampoo, conditioner, soap, aromatic bath oils, very comfortable beds with lots of pillow options, phone chargers throughout the house, charcoal & lighter fluid for grills, kayaks, canoe, paddleboat for the lake and a lovely, well-landscaped back yard for relaxing around the firepit or in the comfortable wide hammock with enough room for two. Located on a quiet street with beautiful lake view and access, and an easy 20-25 minute commute to Hartford. Welcome book includes great information about the house, local restaurants, cideries, etc. Host provided timely check-in information and keyless entry made arrival very easy. Highly recommend this property for a family or group of friends.

Beautiful, peaceful and quiet!
My husband and I stayed at the lake house for a much needed rest! It was beyond beautiful! Everything was just as pictured and described. We couldn’t believe how many things were there for us! Coffee pods to start us out and many choices of tea! We would love to go back with our adult children, because we love the fact that every room has a king sized bed! The lake was so beautiful and quiet! We even had some visitors early one morning, a mother Goose and her five goslings! We truly enjoyed our stay!

Cozy house with a beautiful view
My family and I recently stayed here while visiting my grandparents who live in the area. We loved the lakefront property which was beautiful on a sunny morning. The kids loved the solo stove where they had s’mores, and the large dining table was great for a game night. There was plenty of space to sleep for kids and adults! My niece said on our way home “I miss that little house!” We’re already trying to figure out if we can stay there next time we venture back to CT!

A perfect fall getaway!
We rented this property to be close to relatives for Thanksgiving. We appreciated the wonderful bedrooms with great linens and king sized beds. We prepared Thanksgiving dinner easily in the fully appointed kitchen - plenty of plates, glasses, place settings, and every utensil you could imagine. The family room was so cozy and comfortable, and has a spectacle view of the lake. The weather was pleasant enough that we could enjoy the backyard deck and fire pit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would love to visit again in the spring or summer to enjoy kayaking on this lake.

A quaint lake house with everything you need
House was very quaint and was a lovely lake house. It looked nicer than what we were anticipating from the pictures. There were a few additional little things that wasn't listed, which was a pleasant surprise. Very homey and with a personal touch here and there. We enjoyed utilizing the kayaks, the dock, fire pit and waking up to a beautiful lake view. We also had a baby with us and the house was well equipped with baby gear, toys and needs. This house had everything you needed and most definitely enjoyed our stay.

Relaxing getaway
Everything about the property was just as expected. The host was very accessible and quick to address any issues that arose. The home was extremely clean and the extra touches such as the s’more sticks and snacks were well received. The home was quaint and the lake was extremely relaxing. We were only there for a short stay and unfortunately the first day there was construction next-door and we literally listened to the cutting of stone all day long. In addition, the dust from the construction was difficult to contend with especially for one child who had asthma. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Beautiful Lake House
Thank you so much for a great stay at the lake. Our teens enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards and my husband and I loved sitting on the porch with a cocktail with a view. We used the fire pit each evening with the wood that was left for us. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. Only drawback was the construction happening next door, but that was only for a few hours of our stay and that project looks to be nearing completion.

Perfect Girls Trip
We are 4 life long highschool friends who really wanted a weekend away from our jobs and family. This house was so relaxing and had every necessity that we could have needed. Very clean. Host was always available. So if you love fireplaces, claw foot tubs, cleanliness, huge beds, and lakeside views... this is your place. We will definitely stay again.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay here! The views of the lake are incredible and the Christmas decorations were beautiful. The house is well stocked with items needed for cooking and there were even some extra pairs of sunglasses in case you forgot yours at home (like me). Marian is an extraordinary host. A perfect covid getaway
A girls weekend away from our families, this property provided us with everything we needed. Space for separate sleeping areas, a fully equipped kitchen, and a fire pit fit for catching up. What a gorgeous view. The hosts could not be more accommodating either. The place was well equipped for kids too, but we were happy to leave ours at home this time around. There was some construction happening next door, but it didn’t disrupt us in the slightest. We may have just created a new tradition. Thanks for an amazing stay!

Surprised and Disappointed
When we arrived at our rental a huge Kobelco excavator was parked in the middle of concrete rubble at the lot next door. Only after specifically asking the property manager about it were we told that the lot's house had been torn down several days earlier. It was very clear that site demolition and new house construction would be ongoing. Despite this we were not extended the basic courtesy of being contacted in advance so that we could adjust our plans. We clearly communicated to the property manager when we booked several months earlier; the purpose of our week-long stay was to be able to safely and responsibly socially-distance in the backyard with immediate family, including an elderly and ailing parent. This was impossible to do with the house-shaking demolition going on about five feet from the rental property. It's not an exaggeration to say our visit was ruined. We had nowhere to go. We spent a day scrambling to fit in at least some time with family, a day spent next to 10 hours of noise and dust, and then packed-up and left without knowing when we would be back to the state. We were refunded a portion of our stay and the spotless house had nice amenities. However, that can’t repair time lost with family we haven’t seen for the better part of a year and the time given to the precautions, testing, and preparations necessary right now to travel safely. Given the reviews and our initial positive contacts with the property manager we were very surprised, deeply disappointed and so saddened by the whole experience.
