”This is a very nice lodge with a great history. The room was spacious and we really enjoyed the hot tub and the nature trail. My only complaint is with the people in the room beneath us as we heard them talking well past the quiet hour of 10:00 pm. As the inn has no night manager, I was required to deal with it myself by talking to them directly. Not sure if the insulation between the rooms is adequate. We did hear other neighbors as well but they respected the quiet hours. ”

We arrived to check in at 5pm and the staff seemed eager to show us our rental and get out of there (we were the last and maybe only ones to check in that day). ”I’ll try to be gracious and say that the room itself was clean and I understand that we came at a time where there was a severe storm going on, which is why there was no power or water. Since it is self check in, there was nobody we could talk to on site. I went into our room through a I called the number that was provided to ask about the power/water and the person who answered was not very pleasant. The lodge itself is a hit bit creepy and not having power made it darker and creepier. ”

”This property was wonderful. It was high above the town with great views of the town and ocean. It had a distinctive modern architectural style and an authentic comfortable feel. Our room was clean and well stocked. It was spacious and we had an outside balcony. There was also a beautiful garden and a large shared living room with a pool table. We would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Hawaii.”

”Incredibly good deal for the price. No elevator but my unit was a mini apartment with sofa bed, kitchenette stocked with utensils, cookware and real plates and glasses. Fridge/freezer was much larger than the under counter units in bigger chain hotels. There was even a washer/ dryer. Better than an Extended Stay in that regard. ”Wonderful staff! Very close to the airport, downtown, and stadium. Room was clean. If you are traveling with anyone who has mobility issues, some rooms are located far from the lobby. There are no stairs for rooms on the upper level. We could hear people outside of our room passing by and talking and going up the stairs with their luggage. Hard to fall asleep with the noise. ”

The bathroom and koi pond were really well done. Loved using the jacuzzi tub as the Kona rain storm started ramping up. We lost power a few times and had to pack up by flashlight in the morning but totally understand as it was a very strong storm -- strong enough to close the national park later that day.
