We never actually stayed in our room. Our flight from Grand Rapids was delayed several hours, once we found out about this, I called Days Inn to cancel our room and they said I had to cancel it through Expedia. I tried calling Expedia several times and never got through to a person.
So instead of arriving near midnight, our flight didn’t get to RSW until 3:45 am. We decided to just use the hotel to sleep for a couple hours, so we drove to the hotel. We spoke to the “video assistant” and he told us that he did not see our name and maybe we were at the wrong hotel. So I read him my confirmation number and he said that Expedia canceled our room and I would need to talk to Expedia.
By this time we were just exhausted from our trip and we went elsewhere. My guess is that the hotel assistant answered my earlier phone call, knew that I wanted to possibly cancel the room and went ahead and double booked it.
I have used expedia for all of my travels over 20 years and I have never had anything like this happen. I am very disappointed and sincerely hope that we will not be charged for the night at Days Inn.
