Perfect Trip

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful condo! Very clean and tastefully decorated. Easy check in and out and quick to answer questions about stay. Great location with restaurants in walking distance.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This condo was in a great location-beach front views, easy walk to the beach, and easy walk to nearby restaurants and shops at the boardwalk. The unit itself has issues with cleanliness- needs a thorough deep cleaning with close attention to the bathrooms. The showers had mold and other debris. They need some work with caulking, etc. The guest room toilet did not work and we were told by maintenance that this is a known issue. Four people tried to fix it during our stay, but it never worked properly. There weren’t many towels or washcloths, so we had to do laundry every day to have clean towels. Patio furniture is cheap and not in great condition. The couch is very uncomfortable. I appreciated that the unit came stocked with books and board games. Yes the beach service is free but must be reserved daily. There is a line that starts at 7:30 am every day for the 9:00 beach chair reservations if you want front row seats. The pool on the gulf side is great. Property overall is clean and well maintained. With a few tweaks, this unit could be great as well. Al’s Beach Club has amazing burgers.

Gorgeous Gulf View, but Lacking in Cleanliness and Amenities

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed in one of the ~12 true Gulf-facing condos. The view was beautiful, but there were several issues worth noting.Cons:• Beach chairs: “Free beach chairs/umbrella” is misleading. Dolce Vita opens at 9 a.m., but to get a first-row setup you must line up around 8 a.m. and wait about an hour. This must be repeated daily.• Cleanliness: Shower stalls had noticeable mold and need deep cleaning or replacement.• Plumbing: Toilets were difficult to flush. Also had a leak under kitchen sink requiring maintenance staff• Noise: Poor insulation; we could hear neighbors above and next door.• Kitchen supplies: Utensils and cookware were very cheap and flimsy.• No extras: No beach toys or accessories provided. This is a nice extra that is offered at many other condos in the area. • Bring everything: You’ll need to supply beach towels, soap, detergent, paper goods, and basics.• Parking distance: Very long walk from garage with stairs, difficult with luggage, groceries, or kids; not ideal for elderly or mobility issues.• Pool noise: Pools were nice but often loud due to multiple guests playing music.Pros:• Gulf view: Stunning and the highlight of the stay.• Beach access: Very convenient location right on the beach.Overall:The view was excellent, but for the price we expected better cleanliness, comfort, and amenities. Between the mold, noise, lack of supplies, long parking walk, and daily beach chair wait, we would choose a different property next time in the Destin/Fort Walton area.

Nice Beach Front Condo

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: overall good...the condo isnt new but was clean and well maintained. Kitchen was very nice. Huge balcony and very comfortable beds. 5th time we've stayed at Destin West Reort...first time was 2011. The property is getting older but still very decent compared to other beach side properties we've stayed at. Destin West has awesome beach front access and awesome swimming pools and the location on Fort Walton beach 2 miles west of Destin proper is a plus to avoid the craziness of Destin traffic. Destin West property management team was great for the few instances we had questions or issues..during biz hours of course. One thing to note about this 501 condo is the balcony is unusable every evening from 5-9 pm. There are community BBQ grills on the ground level just below this condo. Smoke from the grills overwhelms this condo balcony and probably all floors above so dont leave any swimsuits or towels on the east side of the balcony they will stink like grilled meat. Closest parking is in the main garage by the highway...you will walk a country mile in the Florida heat from your car to the condo because the condo is ocean front and furthest from the garage. Getting a load of groceries from the garage (even 5th floor of the garage to avoid elevator) is not an easy task and takes a few people and soaked sweaty shirts. Assuming you are only going to get groceries every few days having the ocean side condo view is worth the long walk from the garage...just keep that in mind if elderly people plan on staying in condo 501. Other complaint is the 2 toilets in this condo are old low height seats and dont flush well. Consider the condo is easily a "7 figure" property I would think the owners could afford to go to LOWES and buy a few $250 Kohler comfort height new toilets and install them. That's the only real complaint about the condo...keep the plunger close if you only flush a bit of toilet paper. I would definitely stay in this condo again.
