Relax with the family in this cozy cottage at the center of Surfside Beach, TX. Comb the beach for shells, bird-watch and take in the slow-roll of Island Life as you get to know this quaint little beach town. Your family will have what they need with a fully-equipped kitchen, sectional to veg out on, and two full bathrooms. The open layout of this home makes family time seem natural and easy. This home is elevated like all the homes in Surfside and requires access up a flight of stairs.

This rental was very nice close to the beach and the neighbors were friendly as well. The rental was very clean and well kept would highly recommend renting from them.

Caisson cottage

The only reason I marked cleanliness as a 4 was due to the dishes... most were dirty or were rusted. Other than that, the house was nice and in a good spot. The owner accommodated us by letting us check in early. Communication was very prompt!

Pros 1. The cleaners seemed to do a good job. The house was pretty clean. The only thing we noticed was trash under the couch and between the couch cushions and the dishes in the cupboards were dirty/rusty. 2. The beds and couches are very comfortable. The furniture worked well for our family with the bunk beds. We did need more bedding. The beds only had a sheet and thin bedspread. Cons 1. The water quality in this home/area is terrible. The water smells very bad and leaves an odor on your skin. The property has what looks like a water softener system, but either it is not working or is not enough. We did not feel like we were able to get a good shower the whole time and had to brush our teeth with bottled water. 2. Much of the home needs repair, the doors won’t fully open from hitting the floor, a cabinet door is missing, lots of the fixtures are rusted, the deck has nails sticking up and needs paint/repair, paint is peeling from the walls in the bathroom, etc. 3. It is also not “near” the beach. It’s at least a 1/2 to 2/3 of a mile walk. So we had to drive to the beach. Overall, it met our needs but we were not that comfortable. We would not recommend this rental unless the water issue is resolved for sure and many repairs are made.

Quick Trip!

Great home for a quick stay in the Surfside area! Not too far from the water or local eateries/ businesses. Host was able to accommodate a later checkout time as well. Overall very pleased :)

Lacking some amenities, especially outdoors

Great location,very clean. Disappointed there wasnt any information on local attractions and resturaunts. Limited outdoor seating, two wood chairs without cushions. No covered area to sit. No outdoor dining area. Basic kitchen amenities but no baking pans (cookie sheets, etc). Charcoal grill, no charcoal or tinfoil so we did not use grill. Owner did respond quickly to issue with front door (would not open all the way because floor/doorway warped or settled) but unable to resolve by just "pushing door all the way open".charcoal or tine foil so did not use

We had a great time. We had a problem with toilet and with tub being stopped up. We reported it immediately. We got taken care immediately. The only complaint was a water hole that was a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

The location is good the water is a little smelly but it’s not that bad after the first day. When we first arrived there was dirt on the floor and several dead roaches on the floor throughout the house. There was clothes left in a dresser in the bedroom. There was no paper towels so we had to buy some. There was no laundry detergent so we had to buy some. There was nothing to scrub dishes with. We couldn’t find the towels so we assumed there wasn’t any and then when we did laundry we discovered all the towels were in the dryer. Most of the dishes were in the dishwasher and not put up. We went to make coffee with the keurig and there was a cup left in the machine. There was only 1 trash bag. It seemed like no one really cleaned the place and all that had been done was whatever the last guest had done so we were a little concerned about the cleanliness of everything and prayed the bed was at least clean. We didn’t see any live roaches until our last night. We were cooking and several appeared on the stove, table, and floor, we almost packed up and left then and there but we didn’t want to waste our money we paid. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and the place kind ruined it, we didn’t stay at the house very much thankfully though but we would have liked to have stayed and relaxed there.
