Welcome to Owl Creek Hideaway - a hidden gem with breathtaking views of Belton Lake!

Our property sits on the cliff with a little over half an acre overlooking the lake. It is located in a remote rural area that is developing. The home is newly updated and completely furnished with all that you will need. During the day, you can enjoy the views or access Belton Lake through various parks throughout the season. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking appliances and spices. The living space is perfect for relaxation or playing board games provided. In the evening, you can grab a blanket to cozy up by the fireplace outside on the patio.

Whatever you choose to do, we are sure you will feel right at home!

NOTE: This home comfortably sleeps up to 8 guests. It does NOT include the 4th bedroom. For extra parties, the guest house with a 4th bedroom and full bathroom is available for an additional cost of $125/night + a one time $65 clean fee. Please message us prior to booking if you and your guests are interested in securing this space.

Other important items to note prior to your stay:


Owl Creek Hideaway is tucked away on the north side of Belton Lake. Due to our slightly remote location, the wifi signal can be weak from time to time.

As the property is on a cliff and not fully fenced in, please take caution especially with pets and younger children. We do not have lake access and highly discourage exploring beyond the cliff as the terrain is unpredictable and unsafe.

In addition, wildlife, snakes and insects (spiders, wasps, bees, flies, mosquitos, gnats) are very common in the area since we are near water and trees- especially during the summertime. We do have our home treated consistently through the year to help reduce the incidence of bugs, but are unable to control the natural elements surrounding the home. We ask that guests be vigilant by keeping doors closed, food covered and trash picked up as we will not be responsible for any injuries during your stay.

We do provide life jackets along with a SUP board, a kayak, and some inflatables. Do ensure that equipment is strapped down properly when transporting - you will be response for any damage. Use these at your own risk and only when weather conditions permit.

**DUE TO THE DROUGHT, LAKE LEVELS ARE EXTREMELY LOW AND MAY NOT BE ACCESSIBLE. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL. You can check the state site for updates on park closures.

The house was great, beds were comfortable and view of lake and sunset were amazing. House has all the comforts of home except a broom. Neighborhood is sketchy and will make you question staying but overall it was very nice! Back porch is perfect for morning coffee or a relaxing evening! Perfect for a family. Driveway is a little tight if you have a boat but not bad. Overall the host is amazing and communication is top notch!

Directions and check-in instructions were very good.As a couple and needing to go into town, its very isolated. The spiders are not exaggerated, I wiped them out and after dinner they came back in force the fire pit at night was great and very peaceful to end the evening. Advice: have everything you need before you settle in, the drive to the closest store is about 15 minutes. They do not provide any way to create ice cubes so bring or you'll have to get creative (we used a disposable tupperware night one).

Awesome view of the Lake

We had 3 couples and 1 single person so we rented the extra guest cottage and we were all very comfortable. There was plenty of parking. The kitchen was well equipped. The house has a big view of the lake and it is mostly undeveloped as far as the view you have from the house. So, you get the feeling it is all yours to enjoy.

Beautiful view

The property is very cozy and clean with a great view. If i could make a couple of suggestions, replace the furniture as it is hard to set in and very uncomfortable. Secondly, area rugs should have backing or done away with as they are slick and present a slip hazard. Couldn't get hot water to work in main bathroom. Just a few tweeks it will be perfect! Beds were incredibly comfortable!! Thank you for the use of your property!!

Just what we needed

We were looking for a place to call home for a wedding weekend and this place ended up being perfect. It was very rainy, so we didn't get to enjoy the outdoors quite as much, but the house had everything we needed.

Beautiful Lake View & Home

The view of the lake is incredible! It was so relaxing to sit on the porch and enjoy the calm. The house was clean and well stocked with whatever we needed. Pots, pans, utensils, dishes and the best coffee pot we’ve had at a VRBO. The home was comfortable and had great feel. Like most lake homes, the surrounding neighborhood doesn’t always match the type of house you are headed to. We never felt unsafe and all of the neighbors we passed were very friendly. 10/10 recommend! Thank you for the great experience

Scary Area

I would have given this place a better overall rating if the area hadn’t been so sketchy. The house was adorable and clean, I didn’t have any problems with that at all. What’s not mentioned in the listing is that this house sits in the middle of an area where we didn’t feel safe. Some of the windows didn’t lock and the back double doors could have easily been broken into. The host was very easy to contact and was always prompt in responding to questions.

Really unique with a beautiful view!

We were concerned upon arrival due to passing through lots of run down areas getting to the house. The property didn't have me expecting such a huge side yard and the pool table/game room in the garage was really a bonus! We enjoyed the family centered layout of the house and the views were phenomenal. The owner was very easy to work with as well. We knew that internet would be spotty so that wasn't an issue. We found the beds to be extremely comfortable too. The house is stocked with high end dishes/utenils/cookware/linens which is always a plus. There was a strong smell when we entered the house--like a dog smell, maybe? But the house was immaculately clean. We got some Febreze and fragrance plug ins and it became something we just barely could notice. I have a nose like a blood hound though so that's likely more me than the property. We ran out of hot water because of the big tub and having five people so plan around that, but the games, the porch, even the extra upstairs space we also rented--met our needs perfectly and we hope to return again!

Quick Getaway

Had a quick relaxing getaway to this lovely quaint home. Vickie was super responsive and the home was clean and cozy. The beds were super comfortable and we had everything we needed. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back and visit. Highly recommend for a relaxing time away!
