”Nice clean room. The private balcony had a great view and was really cool in the early morning but it was too hot to use the rest of the day while we were there...temps in the 90's. We love this area and had previously stayed at The Evening Shade a few times and next door at Carters Lodge. We were really sad that one is gone and the other boarded up. After the person we found made a call to find out where our room key was, we had to drive back to the gate house to pick them up. Our room was changed to a king, which was fine. However, there was a space heater going when we arrived and it had to stay on overnight due to being cold in the room. The water in the shower never heated up past luke warm. ”Beautiful, peaceful setting away from it all. Great for golfers & equestrians. Has a nice restaurant & bar on the premises (not open every day). Very good food and nice view overlooking the pond. About 1/2 hour drive from Lake Lure, Chimney Rock & Tryon. Friendly, helpful staff!”
