Carter house : 100 year old house with a remodeled castle inspired feel.

  • The Carter house has a lot of charm and character. Gas lanterns adorn either side of the beautiful front door, upon entering you are greeted with elegance beginning with a crystal chandelier that drops through the ceiling from the cozy library upstairs. The main floor has a TV area with a big sectional, dining table, gas fireplace, full size kitchen, bathroom, laundry and kids bunk room. Sleeps 7 comfortably. There are 3 bedrooms each room having its own private entrance. To get upstairs you ascend the beautiful spiral staircase entering a bedroom with its own private bathroom & coffee bar which leads to the private deck with a gas fireplace. This room has lots of great character, a beautiful rain shower built of brick and stone, and two double doors that lead to the library. The curved library makes for a very cozy and relaxing reading area with lots of books. A great place to enjoy your coffee and listen to old records. If you descend the spiral staircase you enter the other bedroom. Through the kitchen you can enter the shared courtyard where there is a water fountain and lilacs that bloom in the spring.

The perfect place to stay with a group! It’s spacious and cozy all at the same time. It’s within walking distant to everything downtown and there’s always something going on. Definitely will be back!

The house was very clean and the museum across the street was a lot of fun. The entire house was beautiful and we appreciated the museum and castle aspects. The owners were easy to communicate with and friendly. We'd definitely like to return for a longer stay.

We all loved the uniqueness of the home. It was extremely clean with old time charm. Historical furnishings were combined with modern luxuries. We’d stay here again for sure!!

We love staying at this property! It fits the needs of our traveling with older grandchildren perfectly. We enjoy the space it provides and we are able to prepare breakfast and dinner at the house before and after our events. Thank you for sharing your property! The castle is a definite 5 star property!

The entire stay went extremely smooth. House is very cool, with tons of character. Host was very accommodating, checked in on us to make sure everything was going well.

The house is very clean and everything is labeled so it’s easy to find your way around. The location is perfect and the museum across the street has great shopping, games and coffee. The only thing that came as a surprise to us, was the lack of privacy in the home. There aren’t any doors on the two main rooms because they open up to the spiral staircase. We were staying with family so it worked for us.

Very comfortable and clean!

Our stay at The Carter House was very comfortable! The house was very clean and had all the kitchen amenities needed. We loved the location as it was a 5 min walk to shopping and restaurants. We will definitely stay here again when in the area.

A beautiful house, with everything you need.

We stayed at this property while visiting relatives in town. It was very spacious and had all the amenities of home. We took advantage of the grill one night and even sat out by the outdoor fireplace on the deck when the weather was cooperating. It is a very beautiful house and it was wonderful to celebrate Easter there with our baby girl and family.

Fun Stay at a Charming Rental

I recently stayed at this amazing rental and I must say it was a fun experience. The property was well-maintained and exactly as described in the listing. The hosts were extremely accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was within walking distance to Main Street and the owners provided guest passes to the Frontier Auto Museum, what an amazing surprise! I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for an enjoyable getaway.

Family Fun

Brother was just transferred to Gillette for work. Wanted to visit and decided to turn it into a Family trip.We went to Devils Tower and MT Rushmore. A great time was had by all!!

Family wedding

The house was very nice and clean. Check-in was smooth also. We didn't have quite enough sleeping space so 2 people slept on the couch which was less than perfect, but it worked. The museum across the street was a surprise bonus. Very enjoyable. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Graduation Party Was a Hit!!

We celebrated our daughter’s high school graduation and the venue was amazing!! We had a great space to accommodate all our guests and had very many compliments of the venue. The Carter House has 3 floors and a balcony with a gas fire pit along with a small courtyard allowing for many places for family and friends to gather. This was the perfect setup for our party and it would make a great place for a family gathering.

modern amenities and antique charm

the property is interesting. The home was spotless with a well-appointed kitchen. this is a block from the main street and great food options. The mattresses are very very very firm are made a full night's sleep difficult for my family. the furnishings are very comfy, and the antiques were frun to look at. We would go back.

Great Family Getaway

What a beautiful home! Truly felt like staying in a castle. So glad we stayed at this property for my son’s wedding. The house was very charming and comfortable, with plenty of room for a family or group. Wish we could’ve enjoyed the fire pit on the rooftop patio, but December in Gillette is a little chilly for that. Maybe next time! :)
