”The garden area felt like a little slice of paradise with bunnies running around freely helping to maintain the grass - as well as donkeys. Monkeys were climbing in the trees, and occasionally a large turtle would cross the lawn. The place itself was very calming and the staff sweet and helpful.”

”I want to thank Inger, Marvin and all of the Kaliwa Lodge staff for an incredible stay at the foot of Kilimanjaro. Not only is the place unique and astonishingly beautiful, you feel most welcome and all of the staff is always ready to help you and even share personal stories and local info when you're eating or hanging around in the lobby. ”I arrived late in the hostel and found it fully empty. There was even anybody in the reception. Tried to call someone and no reply. Had to wait for another 2 hours and with the help of hotels.com customer service, someone arrived. So definetelly, the security needs to be improved in this hostel. Everything else is good, rooms are basic but comfortable. I stayed in double room and it has mosquito net and fan, the bed is very spacious and comfortable. ”
