The Barnhouse - Country Charm 2 miles from Colgate, renovated century-old barn

Welcome to "The Barnhouse" - a charming, century-old barn we've lovingly transformed into a small house that blends rustic charm with modern comforts. Whether you're visiting Colgate, or seeking a writer's retreat or just a chance to unplug and bask in the serenity of a converted barn, The Barnhouse is your ideal sanctuary.

Inside, you'll find a comfortable bedroom with a queen bed, featuring a headboard made from the original barn door. The open living room and kitchen area include a pull-out queen couch, smart TV, corner desk, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

The well-equipped kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and microwave, and includes all the essentials, from a Keurig, French press, coffee pot, and blender to numerous pots, pans, and more. You'll find the kitchen stocked with oils, spices, condiments, coffee - regular and decaf - tea, creamers and other items you made need during your stay.

In the bathroom, the unique shower has a rainfall shower head and walls made from galvanized roofing. You shouldn't have to bring much as we provide shampoo, conditioner, facial soap, and lotion as well as items you may have left behind - Q-tips, razors, emery boards, etc.

The white-painted concrete floors, white walls, and large windows really brighten up the space and give it a fresh and open feel.

Accessibility is a priority, with a ramp, no interior steps, and wide doors for all guests. You can pull your car right up next to the ramp.

In summer, we provide an air conditioner, and during winter, thermostats ensure comfort in the living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom.

Step outside onto the spacious deck to enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Explore the nearby trout-stocked stream or gather around the fire pit in the evenings for memorable moments.

The statewide snow mobile trail system runs through the field adjacent to the property if that interests you.

For larger groups, we also have a beautiful Farmhouse on the property next door. It sleeps 10 and can be booked separately. And, our other home, Raider Retreat, is only 5 miles away and 3 miles from Colgate. You can search for the houses or message us for more information.

We require a 2-night minimum booking on all weekends and special dates. If you are interested in just one night on a weekend, we may be able to accommodate you depending on the time of year. Send us a message.
