The River Retreat is a private 2-bedroom cabin on 3 wooded acres along the beautiful Namekagon River. Perfect for families, couples, or small groups, it sleeps up to 6 and blends privacy with adventure in the heart of the Northwoods.
Also known as Wisconsin's Moving National Park, the Namekagon River is a 100-mile meandering river through mostly forested and rural Wisconsin landscape, featuring tight, meandering turns and braided stretches around many small river islands. The riverbanks are abundant with deer, muskrat, beaver, turtles, and blue herons, while overhead, eagle and osprey can often be seen.
Inside, you’ll find a queen bedroom, twin bedroom, and queen futon, plus a full bathroom with tub/shower. The fully stocked kitchen, linens, towels, and paper goods make settling in easy and stress-free.
Outside, the fun never ends. Float, kayak, or splash in the gentle river; play complementary yard games like bocce, bags, croquet, kuub, or lawn dice; grill on the charcoal Weber; gather around the fire pit for s’mores; simply relax in the Adirondack chairs while taking in the peaceful river views.
Though tucked away on a private drive, you’re just minutes from all of the shops, restaurants, and attractions that Hayward has to offer, including the Lumberjack World Championship, CAMBA bike trails, and, of course, the Great American Birkebeiner.
Whether you’re after a romantic getaway, a family adventure, or simply some quiet time away from it all, the River Retreat is your perfect four-season escape.
