Nature lovers retreat right on the edge of the river

  • Tucked away in a forest of red oak trees along the edge of the Muskegeon River is where you will find our riverhouse. It is the perfect setting to get away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. There is an activity here to suit everyone. Enjoy your coffee while watching the wide variety of birds right outside the large viewing windows that face the river. Keep an eye out for the bald eagle that perches across the river to hunt for fish & the pileated woodpeckers that drop in for some suet. Maybe you would enjoy catching up on some summer reading in the screened in room? Make sure to bring your fishing poles as the fish are plentiful. Are you into bicycling or off road vehicles? A rail to trail is near by for the bicycles & many orv trails are close. Keep your eyes peeled for the many kinds of wildlife around. turkey, deer, fox, turtles , river otters, squirrels, porcupine, to name a few . Watersports are endless on the river. ( we have a few tubes for your use) also tubes can be rented down at the paris park they will drop you up river to land at the Paris park.
    We will also have a kayak & a canoe out for your use while you stay.

What a wonderful place!! We enjoyed the back deck so much,also the firepit. We loved sitting out there watching the wildlife. Floating down the river from the launch in Hersey and right to the back yard was amazing. We loved the cabin & had a lot of fun. Hopefully we can return again! Thanks so much.

What a wonderful home away from home!! The view is unprecedented! The host has truly outdone herself making you feel right at home. So many little extras that make a trip one of a kind. Such a wonderful environment to relax and recharge! The deck and river are amazing and so close. A magnificent retreat.

Awesomeness

It was a great place to stay at very peaceful and beautiful.Had a very great time staying there .The only thing that would of made it better was if the grill had been available.other than that we really enjoyed our time there.Thank you so much for opening up your home to us

River, birds and biking

Very cute cottage with a gorgeous view of the river. Kitchen was very well stocked, beds were comfy. We spent hours watching the different birds eat at the feeders. Great place!

Plenty of room in house-lots of extras, beautiful river, kayaking was super fun! Nice wrap around deck, lots of bald eagle sightings& wildlife

We had a great time. The home was just as described-the host was super easy and super responsive to any questions I had prior to our stay. We had no issues once we were there.

The house was absolutely a retreat. The home is very comfortable and rustic but with all the updates of a new home. The owner was quick to respond to inquiries and helpful. We filled the bird feeders, suet cages and the hummingbirds nectar feeders and watched the birds all morning. Then we used the kayaks and floats every day leaving from the homes dock and landing at one of the multiple public spots for pick up down the river giving us many options for how long and far we wanted to float. Every evening we had campfires and the amazing firepit just feet from the river. Amazing place to go If you want to watch birds and wildlife, float on the river or just get away from it all.

River View September Getaway

Interesting cabin with fabulous views and access to the river. Many different birds. The beds were comfortable. The cabin could use a super good cleaning (floors and kitchen cabinets). But otherwise loved the location

Peaceful Place

Really cute and quiet place, the view of the river was so relaxing. We so appreciated being able to use the kayaks. Very well stocked kitchen. Could use a deep clean though, looked great from a distance but surfaces were a bit grubby up close (stove, cabinets, refrigerator/freezer). The grill was pretty bad, we didn’t feel comfortable using. All in all though, very nice place and we enjoyed our stay.

Very Enjoyable Stay

We were immediately impressed upon arrival. The river is mere yards away from the front porch and wildlife abounded. Mecosta County has a very nice parks system and the city of Big Rapids is nearby with plenty of dining opportunities. Grand Rapids is close enough we were able to take in a West Michigan Whitecaps minor league baseball game with a drive under one hour in length. Would definitely recommend.

Super river house!

We lived the unique feathwra and location of this home. We had every thing we needed. It also forced up to put down the phones. There is limited cell reception and zero wifi. This actually served to get off the grid for awhile, and that was much needed.

Nature oasis with human creature comforts

Stayed for a quiet extended weekend and really enjoyed watching birds and other wildlife on the deck and from the large windows. Had everything needed to cook on site including a grill. Didn't have kids with, but the layout lends itself well to a family of 6. Host was responsive and accommodating to requests. Would definitely stay again!
