The Crowne Plaza in Hickory is one of our top choices when our family hosts our reunion in Hickory or Conover. Sadly, the hotel is not quite as we remember it. The space is absolutely beautiful and the potential is there, but it seems as though the hotel is declining. None of the amenities that were advertised were available. The gym and pool were closed for the duration of our stay. The restaurant menu advertises a breakfast buffet, which was closed the duration of our stay. The rear door worked only sporadically, which is really inconvenient if your room is on that side.
Positives - their rooms are very spacious and comfortable, they offer a variety of channels on the TV, bathroom is nice, fully equipped with lotion, soap, body wash, shampoo & conditioner. Bathrooms are comfortable, & spacious, beds are comfortable, hotel is centrally located, daily housekeeping, which most other hotels seem to have gotten away from, staff was friendly, check in process was quick and easy. The on-site restaurant had a variety of options for breakfast and dinner.
