”For £60 a night I had a clean and comfy bed, a hot shower, and a tea and coffee station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Yes, it is a little noisy and crooked, but it's an old pub with normal pub hours so that's to be expected. I'm a female in my early 30s travelling on my own and I felt very safe and welcomed. Obviously this is not the hotels fault so still rating a 5, but just make sure you have a decent car to get there as the route is very steep and goes through a mountain range. The...

”Beautiful room, stunning view from room 4. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was excellent, and if you are heading out for walks, they can provide a packed lunch if you order the day before. There must have been at least 5 extremely wellbeahaved dogs at the hotel that were owned by guests, its a super dog friendly place. There are towels to dry off the dogs and also a sink outside undercover with warm water tap to clean the dogs if needed.”

”My wife and I spent two nights at the property in September and found it a very good base for the northern lake district. It is withing walking distance of Keswick and it is a very pleasant walk through the fields, so no need to move the car and search for parking in Keswick. Portinscale is a very pretty and quiet little village, with one nice pub. Craig and Clare were perfect hosts, very informative and friendly. Our only regret is that we should have stayed at least one more day.”
