”I would not recommend staying at the Presque Isle Hotel. It was, without question, the dirtiest and most run-down hotel I’ve ever experienced. We arrived to check in at 6:00 p.m., despite check-in being 3:00 p.m., only to find our assigned room still being cleaned. There were empty bottles, garbage, and other debris throughout the room. ”This place is OK—bed and pillows are comfortable, water pressure good. Lighting not great. Breakfast was OK. I would not recommend for more than a night or two, but if you’re on a road trip and just need shower & sleep before you hit the road again it’s fine.”

”This building is dated. The door to the room was warped, as was the door to the bathroom, meaning both had to be muscled to close them. General condition of the room was fair, but for $175 I was expecting more. By comparison, I stayed at a hotel in the Catskills (same roadtrip) for the same price, and the accommodations felt luxurious by comparison. Really should be charging less for what can best be described as a 2-star hotel.”

”The front door & all side doors should have pushed door buttons for handicapped accessibility. For me I struggled with my luggage & keeping the exterior & interior doors open while I pushed the luggage cart inside the building. I enjoyed the stay I spent 2 nights for an annual Family Reunion. I felt the price/cost was high but, everything costs more $$$ these days. I'll be back again soon!”

”It was -12 on Portage Lake and we cranked the heat pump up to 75. The Birds Nest cabin needs another heat source. Upstairs was cold when we got back at 10:30 pm after leaving the heat on all day in the cabin.The two full size beds that are pictured is one that’s on the bottom of a metal bunk bed frame and the other is upstairs where the roof is pitched so one side has no head room to accommodate two grown adults.New owners shut the water off for the winter. ”I wasn't there much as I was participating in an event that took most of my days, but just waking up there in the mornings was incredible. Then when I returned in the evening more peacefulness. I did a little fishing, it was great”
