”We loved the ambience of the hotel. Everywhere you looked were bits of history from photographs and paintings to the antique furniture. The room was comfortable with all the amenities you could need and the staff was friendly and attentive to all our needs. It was a FABULOUS find!”

”We stayed 4 nights and highly recommend Hotel Varusha. Everyone we met from checking in to our departure was friendly and helpful, even using a translation device to chat about the fascinating history of Veliko Tarnovo. The location is in the Old Town and in a good location for sightseeing, cafés and restaurants. Our room had a lovely view over the atmospheric orange -tiled rooftops to green hills beyond. The room was spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. We didn't use the kitchenette...

”The place is amazing! It is way better than it look in the pictures. Everything was perfect. The rooms, the service, the food, the pool. The people was very nice and make our stay very pleasant. Totaly recommend this place. We will come back again for sure!”

”Arrived hereoretty late and nobody picked up the phone to let us in. Eventually tracked down someone and they said it was full. I showed the reservation and they said they did not do third part bookings They saw that the price I paid was noticeably lower than thir rates and laughed in my face and left me to go fend for myself and find another spot last minute. ”

”Ex-communist palace, so nice big bathtub for decadent soaking for up to three, with lashings of hot water. Breakfast OK but a little variable, depending on number of guests. Superb barman but likely to be leaving soon, as way too good for that place. Good value. Very nice views over park, monument and river. Friendly reception and breakfast room staff. Watch out for miserable staff and possible rip-offs in the Mechana (sort of rustic, Bulgarian-themed restaurant). Food was OK and chef was...
