”We picked this hotel because it was conveniently on our way. The location was very random though and there didn’t seem to be much around the hotel. The hotel seemed to be an old hotel that had been renovated. It looks nice in the pictures but there were some problems. The corridors had old dusty carpets. Our room was damp and there seemed to be moisture damage on the ceiling and walld. Our bedding was damp and the room was cold with no possibility to warm it. The breakfast was ok. ”

”Three units sit side by side, all with an amazing 180-degree ocean view. Even though the three cottages are directly next to one another, we did not hear any noise from the neighbouring units at all. Everything inside was clean and tidy. The space is definitely on the smaller side, and the kitchenette is quite limited, with no sink. But there is no need to worry about washing up, as the host takes care of that part. For an overnight stop while travelling through the area, this is a very good...

7. Aurora Igloo North

Hvammstangi

”This was a very cozy and relatively private igloo. We chose it for clear view should there have been northern lights. There were none during our stay but it was still a great stop. Lovely expansive view. I wasn't expecting it to be so close to the main road with relatively bright lighting as a result. The common area was nice and clean with adequate bathrooms for the number of people during the times we came to the space.”

”Tiny room, but the common area was quite comfortable. There isn't much to see or do in the area nearby, but it was actually quite nice to just stay in and watch a movie in the living room. The restaurant does not look too promising, but don't be fooled by appearances; I had the catch of the day they recommended, and it was one of my best meals in Iceland! Overall a very basic accommodation, but good quality. Would recommend. ”

”Positive things first: the room was clean as well as the public kitchen, which also had plenty of space, dishes and a working coffee machine. Only negative thing we encountered was that when taking shower at 10:30 in the morning, the hot water ended. The problem fixed by waiting for 5 minutes but maybe the owner could turn the knob in the boiler a bit clockwise :). I booked the room in April 2025 when this guesthouse had zero reviews in Google Maps and in hotels.com. When my trip came closer,...
