Great house for extended family

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful home and lovely deck area. House in very good condition inside and out. Spa, pool table and game room all were used and enjoyed. The road coming in to the house needs some repairs, but overall a wonderful place for 10 people. We never felt cramped or crowded.

We had a lovely long weekend. Adrien was very attentive to our needs. He brought another BBQ and even found us 2 pool cue sticks.The windows could use some curtains to block the early morning sun.My adult children want to do this every year to celebrate my husbands birthday.It was a little difficult to find, the “ blue sign arrow” was placed at a odd angle so the turn was unclear.

Great Cabin, Better View!

Had a great time at this cabin! It was easy to get to and a quick drive to the center of town. The views from the patio were fantastic and despite having a large group we never felt cramped. Definitely recommend for a weekend getaway!

Place is very nice very secluded, we did have little problem finding the location, Bedrooms might need more privacy there were no drapes on the windows other than that it was very relaxing.

Great Experience

We had a great stay in the Moonlight mountain retreat! We did relax in the hot tub, played Billiard and enjoyed the views. There were just some minors issues that I rated it with 4 stars.

80th Birthday celebration

We had a great time celebrating at this beautiful home. The view was perfect. The slippery Ivey road at the top of the hill was the only issue we experienced.

Reviewer Comments: Some minor issues: shuffleboard leaned, pool table bumpers broken, pool cue had no tip, grill had broken legs and lid, only one propane tank without splitter, wheels broken on lower dishwasher rack, porch lights had broken prongs on male end and couldn't be plugged in. Wonderful views, marvelous deck. Overall, beautiful cabin that slept our large party comfortably.

Great nature retreat for a friend group!

Went here with my book club and it offered the nature and serenity we were looking for. Expect the property manager contacts to potentially take a few hours to answer questions on the weekend - but overall they offered a straightforward check in and check out process and I appreciated their binder in the living room as a reference for house rules!

Girls getaway

This house was huge, clean, and comfortable. Great indoor/outdoor space and furniture. Was honestly more room than we needed for the 5 of us, and would be awesome for a larger group. The one complain we had was that the back door did not lock, and we had to use a chair to improvise. Otherwise it was perfect for our weekend getaway.

Christmas Cabin

Moonlight retreat was beautiful! It was already decorated for Christmas with a tree and all! The layout is quirky, in a good way! So much woodwork, really felt like we were in a cabin! We were super close to town, but you wouldn’t know it. Lots of hikes within a few minutes. The deck was incredible, comfy, and the views were great! Hot tub was wonderful and stayed hot! It was so peaceful and relaxing all around.A couple things to note, no curtains on most windows, so it’s bright, but beautiful to wake up to Mountain Views. Cabin road was steep and windy so we were grateful there was no ice or snow, otherwise it could have been tricky getting to the cabin. Overall, we would definitely recommend this cabin! We loved our time here!

Peace and bliss in a mountain retreat

We chose this location based on proximity to various family members, and a peaceful getaway for us to spend time together. This rental lived up to every expectation we had for eight people and two small dogs. the bedrooms are spacious with fold-out space as the number of members expanded for the weekend. The deck provides a beautiful view to relax with a beverage. We never felt cramped, yet we could gather in small groups without interfering with the rest of the group. Perfect for family dynamics in a wooded setting. P.S. when they tell you to ignore GPS and follow provided directions, believe them.

Gorgeous Mountain Setting for Large Families

We had a large family with 5 children. Everyone had a place to sleep and plenty of area to play. We cooked almost all meals and the kitchen, breakfast nook, and large dining room table were great. The property was fun -- climbing, hiking opportunities everywhere! We set up a telescope on the deck for the moon at night and the acorn woodpeckers during the day. We would definitely come back! Negatives: We tried to contact the property owner 3 times with questions and only got a response once. Also, we ran out of toilet paper on day 2 because no extra was stocked. Beautiful Retreat

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Moonlight Mountain Retreat accommodated our family of 8 with ease. Plenty of bedding and towels, and i was pleasantly surprised to find even the mattress cover on the pull out couches were clean! Kitchen was well stocked. It was quiet, peaceful, and really a beautiful setting, yet just a few minutes drive to town so it was easy to make as many trips as we wanted. We had lots of fun with the pool table and shuffle board, and the multiple TV’s were great. The house is so unique and all of the wood working is gorgeous. Even though it was extra hot weather and the house doesn’t have AC, the rental provided fans, there is actually quite a bit of shade over some areas of the house, and at night the temp was perfect for sleeping with the windows open. We would definitely stay here again.

Very disappointed!!!

I hate to leave this review but I hope it will help other people when booking in Idyllwild. Due to windows and doors not sealing, we had an issue with mice starting the evening we checked in. New Spirit was very helpful by bringing traps to help take care of the problem. However, even with the additional traps, we continued to see mice throughout our stay. On the day before we checked out, there were baby mice in blanket used by our grandson. On top of the problem with mice, the house was extremely warm due to not being able to open all the windows. Most of the windows were missing screens so they could not be used without letting bugs getting in the house. We were not able to utilize the upstairs bedroom with single beds. It was too hot to sleep in that room. We were in communication with New Spirit Vacations throughout our stay. They were extremely helpful. The last night they moved us to a different house that was much nicer. I would not hesitate to rent one of their houses due to them making up for the issues during our stay. However, I would not stay in this house until they address the mice, screens, and a few other maintenance items.

Mice in the house, missing window & door screens

It's a shame but this property is not well kept. I have been coming to Idlywild for many years staying in vacation homes. This is the first time I have stayed at a property that was unacceptable. Aside from little things I did not complain about, like the outside decks not being cleaned (covered with dust, pollen and no cushions put out), as well as cobwebs everywhere, window screens missing, no sliding door screen, meaning we could not open them because bugs, birds and critters can get in, along with little air ventilation because master fan was not working and it was hot - we were faced with mice in the house. Apparently this was not a new problem as we noticed later there were little traps of which one had a fresh dead mouse in it in the cushion closet. The mice we saw started late at night, running in the game room and middle dining room, one was in the closet climbing the walls. We noticed there is a gap between the garage carport wall and floor in the game room where they can come and go freely. The management company did find us a new place at 11:30 at night which was appreciated but they did not adjust the price as the other place was smaller and rented for much less per day. Needless to say, bad experience overall. Hopefully the problems at Moonlight have been addressed by now- ask before booking.
