This is a wonderful little 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom bungalow on a corner of a horse farm, near the edge of a slow-moving stream, full of wildlife. During a time of much stress in the city, it is a great escape. It is surrounded by conservation areas and the Mark Twain National Forest, not to mention Johnson Shut-ins, Elephant Rocks, and Taum Sauk mountain. It is a hiker's dream and if you can't hike, there are beautiful loops of state highway to explore. However, I could have sat on the deck overlooking the stream for the whole week, just relaxing and breathing in the fresh country air.
There is a small kitchen and living room with everything you could want. Even the WiFi actually worked, which is often not the case in more rural areas. The beds are comfy and the house is clean and well-maintained.
Lots of local shops are closed during the pandemic, but I got a delicious curbside takeout meal from the nearby Thee Abbey Kitchen, and can't recommend it highly enough. There are plenty of grocery stores and gas stations in the nearby towns for stocking up.
The photos of the property were taken in winter, and really need some summer views. Imagine a wall of trees and leaves providing beauty and privacy as you sit out on the large deck.
I highly recommend this property for singles, couples or families, young and old. I strongly recommend that you contact the owner for detailed instructions on how to find the actual driveway.
