Clico Boutique hotel is a really nice establishment. The room was very clean. The bathroom is quite large with waterfall shower head and the staff was super friendly. Unfortunately my sister got very ill after having dinner at the hotel. She had no energy, could hardly walk or speak. When we arrived home we took straight to the hospital and there we found out that she had samenella poisoning in the blood along with a bacterial gut infection which contributed to borderline kidney failure. She's still in the hospital recovering. Her situation made me dislike Clico hotel for the improper handling of food. I witnessed the same people who work in the restaurant were also cleaning the pool, sweeping and maintaining the grounds and will go back into the restaurant/ kitchen and served the hotel guests with the same attire . How incredibly stupid that they weren't mindful that they can bring in contaminants into the food area exposing their guests to serious illnesses. Very disappointing.

Great boutique hotel in the center of Rosebank! It is a very pretty property with lovely views and a quiet escape from the city. Excellent on-site restaurant and easy walking to Rosebank Mall, galleries and restaurants. The staff are lovely and so helpful. Highly recommend!

Clico Excellence
Clico was an excellent experience for me during my week stay in Johannesburg (Rosebank). The great stay can be attributed to the lovely people who work there. Spencer(My Guy), Sibusiso, Nomfundo, Spiwe, Trevor, Henry, The Chef and all others that I forget were professional, helpful and welcoming. Coming from the USA, I was impressed by the customer service and security there. I walked the neighborhood everyday with no issues. Thank you Clico and I will be back soon.

Excellent spot in northern suburbs
I can’t imagine a better place to stay! The place feels like a home with just nine rooms. The food is simply outstanding - hot breakfast is prepared to order and presented as a five-star restaurant meal in a sunny room with fresh breeze. The staff are fabulous - greeted by friendly and professional people at every turn, from the guard outside to the front desk and waiters. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet - great bedding. The location is on a nice street and super convenient. We walked to Rosebank restaurants (even at night) without any issues. Try a drink/meal at sunset the beautiful rooftop deck at Marble restaurant. Skip the impersonal chain hotels. This is so much better.

The hotel was very nice, with spacious rooms and balconies/patios, a nice pool, decent wifi, accommodating staff, and a nice restaurant with good food and wine. Our hotel arranged a shuttle from the airport for ~$25 USD for the 30 min drive, but Uber is also possible. The surrounding area was very upscale and had numerous shopping malls with anything you could want to buy. It was not considered safe to walk the streets at night, even around our hotel.

Charming boutique hideaway
Very cute boutique hotel with great service at this little gem. Restaurant made delicious meals. Room was good not great but we never spent much time in it. Windows, doors and overall room interior could use an update however we would still visit again. Excellent location.

Great little oasis
We spent 1 night so as too avoid driving home after dinner. It was a good decision. This small little hotel is perfect for the business person who want to be central, but need quiet time after a hard day.

From the moment we connected with Peggy months before arrival we were treated to her amazing service. Peggy, Marvelene (hope I got the spelling correct!) and all the staff at Clico from the servers, the gates man and their driver contact Dan were wonderful. We felt genuinely cared for and the smiles and friendliness from all were addictive. The restaurant was beautiful and from breakfast to the amazing 4 course lunch, dinner and wines the food and care of the staff was amazing. I must add that our driver Dan was the first contact we had upon arrival in Joburg after 30hours travel; he was so kind and informative. We greatly appreciated all the beautiful people we met during our stay.

We loved everything about this property. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to be helpful. It’s in a safe area with Rosebank Mall In walking distance. It has a great onsite restaurant which serves breakfast, dinner and lunch.

Mysigt hotell med sköna sängar.
Helt okej hotell. Dock blev det stora problem med restaurangen då personalen inte var så bra på allergier. Men när det blev löst så var vistelsen bra. Dock finns ingen dör till toaletten i det första rummet vi bodde i så det gäller att vara bra vänner innan man delar rum. Poolen är inte uppvärmd så den är tokkall. Är dock mycket nöjda över lag med vistelsen. Lite kort meny i restaurangen kanske för att stanna länge här.

Mysigt litet hotell
Det var problem med maten första dygnet då personalen inte är insatt i allergier. Men sedan gick det bättre. Dock är menyn i restaurangen ganska kort men maten är mycket god. Rummen fina och stora dock fans ingen dörr till toaletten i ena rummet utan bara en vikbar låg skärmvägg. Och i det andra rummet en dimbar glasvägg. Poolen är inte uppvärmd så den är trotts mycket bra väder väldigt kall. Sköna sängar och ett trevligt och bra hotell! Skönt också att man kan gå ut direkt till poolen från flera av rummen.

The Good and the Not So Good
Clico was great! It used to be a mansion now converted to a hotel, which gave it a personal feeling. The staff was very friendly and willing to help out in any way possible. The food was AWESOME! The Seabass and Pork Belly dishes were the best. The rooms were spacious with all the comforts you need. On the flip side, there are some things which could be improved and one may just pertain to me. First, there is no wall separating the bathroom and the room. There is only a wall divider. I'm ok with it unless if the other person is not feeling well if you know what I mean, or else the smell would be awful. Second, when I check in to a hotel, I like to head to my room and relax. Unfortunately, the welcome letter in the room with instructions to the wifi network were incorrect. Therefore, I had to call the front desk to assist. That's when the typo was discovered. Third, every day I was in Joburg, was planned to the hour. The exception was the last day when I freed half a day so I could enjoy the pool. When I got to the hotel, I found out there was a wine and cheese tasting event being hosted at the hotel and therefore the pool was off limits. There was no posting or communication about this event so I wasted half a day in my room. Finally, this is just me I think, I like the room to be cool and the AC in the room was not strong enough for me. There were a couple of nights when I woke up sweating. Regardless, I did enjoy my stay.

Great stay for one night in Johannesburg
We chose the Clico as it has nice surroundings and a little pool to recover from an overnight flight from London before going on Safari the next day. The staff were really helpful and arranged a very nice driver to take us to and from the airport. We had lunch and dinner and breakfast in the hotel and all were delicious and beautifully served in the charming restaurant. Excellent customer service all round.

Comfortable, convenient, clean little hotel.
Staff were so helpful. Hotel is situated a short walk away from Rosebank Mall & local train station as well as being local to the Big Red Bus touring company. We spent a restful day relaxing here before continuing on our African trip. Meals were good & restaurant very pleasant.

Great hotel in great location!
I loved everything about this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. I appreciated the turn down service every night. The location was by a mall, restaurants, and art galleries. I only ate in the restaurant once (so many options in area), breakfast was good. I especially loved the staff. Peggy, Promise, Mze and Trevor were all wonderful. I plan to stay here again and recommend it strongly.

Very good hotel
We were very impressed. The service throughout was great. The restaurant was brilliant for dinner offering a very smart menu and a very good breakfast as well. The room was clean and bright and had some of the best wifi that we had all the time we were in South Africa.

Warm Welcome to Johannesburg
The hotel is located in the Rosebank area which is an upscale and safe area of Johannesburg. Staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful trying in every way possible to be of assistance. An excellent breakfast was included with the room. We also had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel and it was outstanding with excellent food and service. We didn't get a chance to use the pool because it was raining but it looked lovely. I would highly recommend the Clico hotel to anyone who likes small boutique hotels where the emphasis is on comfort and service for its guests.

Perfect Spot to Unwind
This is a wonderful hotel. Everything was perfect during the 3 days we stayed. Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable, housekeeping is good, restaurant serves great food and the pool area is a lovely spot to relax and unwind. Front desk was helpful arranging taxis etc as needed. There were nice touches like the welcome glass of wine, turndown service and chocolates. There was a small conference on during our stay and the conference facilities look top notch. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.

Quiet boutique hotel in a green area
Clico is a small boutique hotel located in a residential area a short walk from the Rosebank Mall, and a quick ride from the excellent Gautrain station, effectively connecting the area to the airport. The area surrounding the hotel is very green, quiet and safe. An Uber ride to Parkhurst - which is a great area for restaurants and bars - takes only a few minutes. For my first visit to Joburg I found the location perfect and it gave me access to the entire city using Uber and the Gautrain. I had a ground floor room with my own little patio facing the pool, which was a very calm and relaxing environment. There were a few other guests at the hotel but I hardly noticed them. The breakfast is excellent, you get a menu and can order a cooked meal in addition to a small buffet. All choices I tried were delicious.
