Great service in Joburg centre
We experienced great service from the desk, in particular the travel desk and their partners, and the ground floor cosy cafeteria. The only problem was that the toilette & bathroom was not at all separated from the main room !! It was really unpleasant. It is not the fault of the hotel that Joburg is not not considered safe for tourists to walk around. We got good help from the staff to live with this problem - transportation, reservations, even walking with us to nearby places to take care of everyday practical needs.

Très bien.
Pour une seule nuit a Johannesburg, cet hôtel était très bien. Le bar au roof top donne une vue sur la ville. Les chambre sont grande et comfortable.

Bed bugs dried my blood out
The hotel was nice, the bar was perfect, the staff was really kind, but there were so many bed bugs in the bed we couldn't even count them, we killed some in the first night and tried to sleep, the next morning we asked the staff to Clean the Room, but our bodies were all bitten by them, I counted 52 bits on my friend and I got 78..the Third morning it got even worse.. :(... we've been traveling and still suffering from it... It was terrible to get this in a nice 4 stars hotel... Rooms Must be checked and extermination is a must for this f**ing bugs ;/ I had to go to the drugstore to get some medicine this morning to be able to continue my trip

Golden Comfort in City of Gold.
This place was lovely, I felt like a valued customer and would stay here again when i return to Joburg. Joannah on reception has an angelic nature and excellent communication. Resturant team were immaculate and helpful. Felly took care of cleaning my room and was always extremely polite.

My Golden Reef Moments
Had a problem with parking, the the parking space in P1 and P2 is not easily accessible because of a narrow driveway, but all in all its a nice hotel, will definitely be going back. if you not gonna need parking, if you not driving this is the best hotel. great Location

A diamond in the city!!
Had a great stay! The staff is professional but they could be friendlier. It would be nice if they had complimentary condoms in the room. Also, we didn't know which number to dial for reception..it was not displayed on the bedside. Overall: it's a great hotel!

Hotel muito bem localizado, porém durante a noite devido pouca movimentação se torna perigoso. Quartos confortáveis, banheiro amplo. A parede do quarto é a própria estrutura do prédio, dando um aspecto antigo, porém diferente e achei bem interessante! Café da manhã sensacional com muitas opções! Recomendo estadia no hotel!

solo travels to joburg
The staff at the reef is amazing! for a solo traveler it's not the best area to stay in because there is not much around however you can uber everywhere! overall the hotel is very nice, beautiful rooftop venue. for a vegan like myself there are not many options if any so I ate out alot!

The best thing about the property is the staff. They are very friendly and accommodating. Being a solo traveler and staying here I was able to schedule tours and transportation they even helped with uber.

Trevligt hotell, men när jag var där var det kallt ute och rummet var mycket kallt. Dessutom ligger hotellet i centrala delarna av Johannesburg, vilka inte är helt säkra under de mörkare timmarna på dygnet.

Nous avons voulu passer 2 jours à Johannesbourg après une semaine dans les parcs et avons choisi cet hotel pour sa situation. Restaurant et bar agréable mais les chambres sont décorés dans un style usine tres sombre avec du béton gris qui a mal vieilli. Les draps ont été mis encore humides Pour le reste , juste correcte

I would stay here again
The hotel and the staff were greatly accommodating. The breakfast provided to guest in the morning was absolutely delicious and filled with all the morning favorites from pastries, eggs your way, fruit, yogurt, fresh juice, coffee, tea, sausage, etc. I really appreciated the staff's hospitality. I do wish the surrounding area was better but Maboneng is about a 10 min drive. I would stay at The Reef again.

The Reef of Utter Disappointment - DON'T DO IT!
I really wanted to like this hotel! Traveling with my mother who had a cold, so at check-in I confirm that our room had two twin beds. "Oh, yes of course!" says the girl at reception. We get in the loudest elevator known to man, come out into a pitch-black hallway with hard to trigger motion detector lights, get to the room, and of course it has ONE double bed. Go back to switch rooms, girl doesn't even acknowledge her mistake. Ok... One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was its claim of a fitness center. So when we check into our new room I head straight for the gym - broken treadmill, elliptical with one side 20cm higher than the other, crooked weight bench covered in dirt. I go to reception to ask if the gym will be cleaned or fixed anytime soon. "I will call the maintenance man right now," she says. My mother is getting sicker and wants to leave early. I go to the front desk to ask about cancellation. "Let me call the reservation manager and get right back to you," she says. The next MORNING I am told cancellation is not possible for online bookings. I ask about the broken gym, get told it will be fixed today. 3 days later: wound up nursing my mother in the room. Gym NEVER fixed or cleaned. Bathroom light is motion detector, so if you spend more than 10 minutes in the shower it will be dark. If you pee in the middle of the night the light and loud fan will stay on for 10 minutes. Walls made of cardboard. Impossibly loud music in the elevators and at breakfast.

Het hotel is prima. Alleen Johannesburg zelf is niet aan te raden. Door het hotel personeel werd afgeraden ons buiten het hotel te begeven. Al met al prima hotel maar blijf zo kort mogelijk in Johannesburg.
